I blocked off rooms at the La Quinta. The bridal suite is a great size and very nice. The price was better than the Marriott. They also have a shuttle to and from the Jericho Terrace. That was very important to me to have a shuttle, or most people won't stay. Check out the La Quinta in Garden City. They were very helpful.
I'm def going to look into this, I heard there's a complimentary bfast the next too, is that true?
we did LaQuinta and we went down and had breakfast with everyone the next morning - its in the lobby and its included for all hotel of the guests - it was nice and we got to see just about everyone who stayed over.....we didn't use their shuttle b/c we got one through our limo co - instead we used the shuttle credit towards the cost of the bridal suite.....
I have a question about the hotel. I'm not sure if you got ready there along with your bridal party but I'm not sure what I should do. I will be getting ready at the hotel with my bridal party bc I am from Staten Island and not risking traffic the day of the wedding. My question is if I get ready in one suite with all my girls, do I just get late checkout for that suite so that I can use it all the way up until we're ready to leave for the church (about 2 hours later). Or do I have to purchase that room for both nights, when I'd really want to stay in the honeymoon suite for the wedding night obviously. Do they have a honeymoon suite, am I on the right track. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!
we are also from staten island!
i got the bridal suite for 2 nights - the night of the rehearsal dinner (which was the day before the wedding) and for the actual wedding night.....the night before the wedding i set up my dress and jewelry and anything else i would need for the wedding day.
our parents and bridal party also stayed over the night before the wedding (b/c of the rehearsal) and then we all hung out until bed time. i went back to the suite and DH stayed in a room with the groomsmen...
in the morning hair and make up came to my suite - the bridesmaids, my mom and MIL all got ready in my room with me....then of course the flowers got delivered, and photo and video showed up....we had our ceremony at JT so DH and I saw eachother for the first time at the hotel - we took some of our pictures there but left before our guests started checking in....then we went to JT to finish up (in December its cold so we just decided to skip a location and do photos at the hotel and JT only)
at the end of the wedding night DH and I went back to the bridal suite....

Does anyone know if La Quinta has a bar area? And if so, is it big?

Did you feel the room was a disaster from getting ready in there during the day?

Re: The official JERICHO TERRACE thread
For those of you who already had your reception at JT, how early did they open the doors to that lounge room for your guests? Our ceremony is at 330. So say we leave by 4:15 and get to JT at 5. The cocktail hour is at 6:30. I am sure people can wait around for 30 minutes. But if they aren't going to let people inside till 6, an hour outside in the heat is a long time.

Not at ALL - the room is pretty big - I had only had 3 bridesmaids, the Moms, hair, make up, 2 photographers and video - i don't think there were any more than 10-12 people at a time in the room - remember everyone stayed over the night before so people were leaving to go back to their own rooms on and off all morning....The morning of the wedding was really calm - I thought I'd be nervous or freaking out but I was cool as a cucumber - it kind of went slow and I just wanted things to feel real or start already
Once the photographer and your flowers arrive you start feeling like WOW this is really happening
I wouldn't say it was crowded or hectic or crazy at all - that is part of the reason we kept our bridal party small - we wanted our wedding to feel really intimate, no drama, no craziness I think the more people you have around that morning the more potential for it being a little nutty - more people have to get hair and make up, more people take up more space....for me it was perfect though.....and I think it depends on your hair and make up people as well - mine got there early, started right away and they totally set the tone - they were so calm and relaxed and they really help set the vibe.....

Future Mulligan I have a question for you. I know you had uplighting, do you know how many of the light things they used? I'm an idiot and can't remember the name.

i didnt have reception at JT but they told us if guests get there an hour early they can go to the lounge so im sure it will be fine. If you tell them it needs to be set up from earlier, they will

Re: The official JERICHO TERRACE thread
Hi
I am having my wedding there in a month and I am having my ceremony in Freeport at 3pm and we are having a full mass. I plan on getting to Jericho by 5-5:15pm ish. Our cocktail hours also begins at 6:30pm, however, there is a wine and cheese room that the guest can chill until the cocktail starts. They have that room for that purpose in case guest are early for cocktail hour. They can go there an hour or before the cocktail time. The room is beautiful and they serve drinks, wine, and cheese. Hope this helps.

Okay. I was just wondering b/c they were asking me how many areas I would want to be lit or something along that line.

Did your BM say that they would open it up an hour before? My BM said 30 minutes before. That's a big time difference when you are dealing with heat and humidity.

I took some pics of JT when I was there for the showcase. Just thought I'd share:

I have to ask them that, but I do remember them saying that they were flexible and would not allow the guest to be uncomfortable. I am going there today so I will let you know.

I made sure he put it on our contract for like an hour and a half earlier, so maybe just call and make it more definite for what you really want.

Re: The official JERICHO TERRACE thread
Hello everyone! I've been recommended to peek my head over here. I'm a upcoming JT Groom (that's right, my FB is just sitting back and relaxing), with a date locked so far at 9/5/10 hehe. I'm brand new to all this wedding stuff myself, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can as soon as possible. God help me.
Anywho, I have a few small concerns that I posted on my other thread, though my main worry has been reports that some couples have had wedding ceremonies at the Jericho Terrace and they were able to hear music from other receptions. I'm very scared at the idea of this.. scared for my ceremony and scared for the inhabitants of the Jericho Terrace at the time if something like this happens! :D
