Hey Girls!
I noticed there were tons of questions flying around about the Surf Club in New Rochelle, so lets all help each other!

ohmigod! r u serious? I thought for sure they would be done by now... I wanted to go up there in the next few weeks to see what the progress looks like and to talk about the pool thing. I feel bad for the brides who are getting married there in a few weeks.

ME TOO! I really hope they are getting some sort of HUGE discount!!!! I mean.. at night.. it's one thing.. because being bussed to the door might lead to people not even realizing the status of the parking lot.. but what about DAY weddings. To be promised something SO beautiful and then be faced with that.. I can't even imagine what I would do!!

Hi! I am getting married at the Surf Club on 7/25/09. I have been there several times in the past few weeks and I have to say the inside looks absolutely beautiful. The lobby is much bigger than it was with a seating area and a coat check. The saircase is stunning and the bridal suite is amazing compared to what it used to look like. There is a new built in bar in the downstairs ballroom. Unfortunately the outside is still not done. Honesly I am pretty upset about it but I just keep trying to tell myself that there is nothing that can be done so not to stress. But I sort of am. The whole driveway is gravel and there are bulldozers parked in the back. I hate to say it but I feel embarrassed that it looks like I am getting married in a constuction zone! Also, we were told that there would be a fence put up between the pool making a walkway for the guests but has not been put up and when we asked Chris said they are not putting one in anylonger.

oh wow. All I can say is wow. This is completely crazy. I am EXTREMELY sorry that you have to go through this...Did you speak to Jamie (the owners son) about any of this? Are they at least going to compenstate you? Really talk to Jamie. I think he is really understanding about the situation.

That really s*cks. I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful no matter what. Please keep us posted on how it goes :)

i have also recently went up there... the inside is absolutly stunning... its all finished.. the outside however is still not done.. BUT we had a long conversation with the lady at the front desk... apparently the town is giving the surf club a really hard time for all the renovations and tahts why it is not done... they had dug the huge hole for the fountain but had to cover it all up b/c the town wanted them to get a seperate permit for that.. so they actualy finally did recieve the fountain from italy and it should be going in soon...

i didn't see any people being bused to surf club either.. they stil have valet and that all seems to be fine... oh and i asked about the pool and that seems to be a non issue for now... they dont have any people signed up for the 'beach club' part so everything should be fine with that..

as for the bulldozers and stuff.. it does kinda look bad sitting in the parking lot but what are you gonna do.. im trying not to let that part get to me since the inside and the back look amazing..

hopefully it will be done in the next few weeks and we all will be happy brides

Thank you very much Stef for reassuring me lol. I was just vomitting to Fh about the pool thing. I mean hopefully next year there won't be any members, b/c I will throw such a fit if I see one person in a swimsuit come near my guest... ugh. But still, if they plan on selling memberships, than something should be done to disguise it. We are paying enough.

I think everyone's weddings will be wonderful no matter what. I'm excited for you lol. Don't forget to post pics asap!

I was told that they do have some members. My DOC had a wedding there at the beginning of June and she said there were a few (like 2-4) people at the pool. I guess it is what it is. I am very excited to get married there I just wish everything would be the way we discussed it would be when I first booked. On the up side, it was a breeze to finalize our menu. There is a vast variety of foods and the cocktail hour is going to be unbelievable. My dad surprised me and sprung for the raw bar and sushi bar with chef! Everyone is going to be so full. I will try to remember to take some pics when I go back on July 6th.

Is anyone going to the bridal show at the Surf Club on July 29th? My BM called me and asked if I was interested..he also said the chef is cooking some pasta for everyone to sample. I'm in!

I have been so nervous about everything but drove by there the other day and FELL IN LOVE!! I didn't go inside.. but they have started to work on the parking lot and so far it looks AMAZING.. so much landscaping.. beautiful flowers, trees, plants..and they painted the outside of the building - it looks GREAT!! no more gross pink it's almost like a khaki-peach but totally neutral and gorg!!

I'm excited!!!
