I noticed there were tons of questions flying around about the Surf Club in New Rochelle, so lets all help each other!

that is so awful! i definitely see that as a huge problem, especially for the summer brides. welcome to the forum and please keep us updated!

with regard to the chairs (u know me and chairs..), i think the second chair picture is not that great. they really shouldve gone with the ballroom standard and i, too, hate chair covers.

Hi all! I am new to posting on this board but I have been lurking for quite a while. I am a Surf Club bride getting married on 7/25/09 and I wanted to share something I thought was really upsetting-especially if you are a summer bride. The other day when we were at the SC getting direction cards we noticed a sign that beach club membership enrollment was starting. We were so upset bc we asked Jaime when we booked back in June if there was going to be any people at the beach or pool and he said it has been closed to the public for years. Well my fiance just called Jaime and he was with some other people but he said that the town was making them open it up! He said that the beach will close at 6pm but the pool will remain open!!! This pisses me off to no end. My ceremony is at 5:30 on the beach and I do not want people wathcing or kids screaming! And the pool is right next to the ballroom window. It is so trashy to me to have people running around in bathing suits while I'm having a classy evening affair. Jaime asked my fiance to call him in an hour so if you like I will keep you updated. But this is a huge deal for me. Sorry my first post has to be one of this nature. But I look forward to talking and planning with you all.

WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?!?!?!?!? i'm pretty annoyed now.. they told us that they were gonna open the tiki section for my wedding (which is right next to the pool!) i dont want people in there bathing suits running around during my wedding.... ohhh jaime will be hearing from me! lol

Hi StefandKen- Isn't it terrible. The outside area is a big reason we booked the SC. It horrifies me to think that during our cocktail hour there will be people splashing around and lying casually by the pool. It is not appropriate at all and they need to hear it! A wedding is an intimate occasion and I would have thought twice about booking the venue if it would be open to the public. We are spending so much money there with over 350 people on our guest list. It is riduculous!

It is directly adjacent to the grand ballroom. Right next to it. If someone jumped in the pool it would splash on the window!

they should not be allowed to have the pool opened for people who already booked their weddings... its not right.. we are all spending TONS of money on this place and now they are pulling this..

its right NEXT to the cocktail hour patio... like right near the tiki bar area.... actually when people walk back to the cocktail hour they walk by the pool!! so now what are they going to do

Hello ladies. We went yesterday to speak to Jaime and express our concerns. He said the town came down hard on them because in order to be a caterer and serve food the venue must also be an operating beach club. This is the same for every venue on Davenport Ave. The beach club/pool closes at 6. This is a problem for me since my ceremony is at 5:30. He told me that no one is allowed on the beach during the ceremony but there could be people in the pool area but they are not allowed on the deck near the tiki bar wich overlooks the area. I asked him to add this in our contract just so we don't have a problem. Also, they are building a fence in between the pool and the walkway for the guests to get down to the ceremony site so they will not see poepe in the pool. He said for this season they do not have any members signed up so far so hopefull it stays this way. But they might get more members year to year so this might be something future brides want to be aware of. He made me feel much better but I am still a little upset since we booked with the promise that there would be absolutely no one there.

i havn't talked to him yet.. but this whole thing really bothers me... they even told us we could decorate the pool and it would be part of the wedding! so i dont think its fair .... the 'beach club' should be closed for anything that was already booked before we found out about this

Well thats NEWS TO ME!!!!! UGh!!!!!!!

I am emailing Jamie right now, and FH is going to seriously let him have it tomorrow. How could they???!!!! Thats a load of Shyt! Number one, my ceremony begins at 6:30, with my guest arriving at 6:00!!! So they will still see people strolling around in their bikinis and the smell of chlorine will be sooooooooo bad!!! When the hell did they expect to INFORM us about that? This is royally unacceptable. If that is the case, I want my wedding to begin later, or I want them to close the pool earlier.

They are in such a world of SHYT with me right now! We are ALL spending loads of money to have our weddings there, and deserve to have privacy and not have this ridiculous pool bull crap!!! And I think its a little shady that all of a sudden they have to start having pool memberships... interesting...

Lets all keep each other well posted about this issue....

yea my cocktail hour starts at 6 and i was planning to get there around 430 to take pictures on beach and stuff... now there are gonna be people walking around in the background of my pics.. unacceptable!

Ladies,
Email your BM and insist that they shut down the pool and beach for members at least 2 hours before your ceremony/CH!!!! The more of us that bytch about it the more they have to do something!

My sushi and shrimp bar is around the pool.... FH IS FLIPPING RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

You know...I never even thought about the pool all Jaime said was that it was going to be sparkling blue and extremely clean...He never said people were going to be swimming...I am calling my DOC tomorrow!

They have some supplies. I found out later that they had lots of candle holders left from other weddings all I had to do is supply the candles. If I would have known it would have save me some money. There contract has a $300.00 min. For flowers if you don't use there florist. I had them wave it. Also I had to supply all the flowers for the outside. I got married there SO I wanted to also put cushions in the gazebo seating. (pics in my album), they don't supplies any thing for the out side. I even had to have them change the table cloth in the gazebo from red to white. I also supplied all the palm trees for the cocktail area.
