The OFFICIAL 'This is the correct way to spell/say my name' Thread!!

Original post by MikesBride2B

This is not a direct knock at anyone because a LOT of people have done it (in the past as well) and Reg's post just made me think of it...this is a perfect way to do it. Its a pet peeve of mine...so I just gotta put it out there...

There's only 1 L in my name...its spelled I L A N A...I know its confusing coz a capital I and a lowercase L look the same...I am not upset with anyone...I just figured instead of looking at misspellings all the time and getting annoyed I should just say something.

I swear I'm not mad at any of you...I'm just a lunatic

Okay so apparently a lot of us have this problem so I changed the name of the thread to help all of us

I'm with the other Kriste/i/an's here.

It's not kristEn, or kristIn or Christine, Christin, etc. It's KristAn

I also get the, ohhh it's spelled with an A? I've never seen that before, quite a lot.

When I was a kid, I used to get so mad that I could never buy those bike license plates or pencils with my name on it at the stationary store. They always had Kristen or Kristin but never Kristan!

There were always a lot more 'Kristen' personalized items than 'Kristin'...I'd usually luck out with 'Kris' ones though.

FH and I had this conversation the other day! His conformation name is 'Niklas' which is Swedish after his Grandfather. He said he'd like to name his son (if/when he has one LOL) that name. I told him 'do you want to be the dad who has to explain to his son that his name is too original or unique in the middle of a store. I wish they would sell the pens and stuff and have the parents make the lettering on them. I like the different spellings of names but it's like if it's not common, it doesn't exist and that's just WRONG!

I don't usually have a problem (Elizabeth) although some people do ask 'is that with an s or a z?'

Then you get dumb people that can barely speak and wind up with a fax addressed to Elzebth or something like that.

My last name however... don't even go there.

It starts with an I but it consistently gets messed up and spelled with an L.

I've been told I don't have appointments for things or am not on a list, etc. because they have me under 'L' instead of 'I'

My full name is Jacqueline and for short, I go by Jacquie. A lot of people might spell my name Jackie and usually I don't bother correcting people.

Um - my last name is 10 letters. So is my first. It doesn't fit on my NY Driver's License!!! It says 'J I Buccarelli' not even joking!!!

I'm SO excited to change my name to a WAY easier 'Kepple!'

OMG me too! My last is 10 and my first is 8. I can't wait to get a 5 letter last name so that my first name can fit on my license!!

I'm Kristin.

That's -in at the end. Not -en.

And my name is NOT Christine, Kiersten, Kirsten, Christian, Christina, or any variation of those names. I happen to like those names, but none of them are mine.

Just call me Kris. Everyone does anyway. It's easier, and I like it a lot more for myself.

My middle name is Kristina!! Birthday twin!!

ppl always spell my name MARISSA, instead of 1 S. I also get called Martha a lot. I dont know how you get that from Marisa but whatever.

My name is Melissa ( M-E-L-I-S-S-A), one L, 2x s's, Not 2xL's, and 1 s.

I get Martha (especially on the phone), Marissa, Michelle( which was going to be my name), all the time. It was so bad when at one of my jobs (when there was Melissa, Marisa, and Maria) they nicknamed me FRED because its so much easier to know who they are talking about. That was about 4 years ago and they still use it to this day.

I actually hardly use my first name because I feel it doesn't suite me. Fh doesn't even call me by my name. He just uses 'Babe' all the time, the best is when he's mad and call me 'my dear' - Don't know what 50's show he's been watching
