My Father is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. I think he will fade fast. He basically is. He got a little sick right after I got engaged.

I waited until 39 to meet the right guy and got engaged right at 41. I was estatic to find the perfect guy who has the most adorable and loving children (I am going to be a Step Mom..how exciting!).

It is ruining the happiest moment of my life along with the worry of my Mother who this is killing. I will not be given away by my Father whom I adore and has suffered so much in his childhood (he is one of the last Holocaust survivors).

I guess I am posting this because I need prayers and I will have many questions to past brides that may be lurking or anyone who can give advice on some things I should do.

Like, how do I word my invites now, how do I add stuff to ceremony, who is proper in giving me away etc...

I just pray my Father has no pain and my Mother will live through this.

It seems like life is unfair all around...

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. To be honest, if this was me, I would think about having a very small ceremony sooner with just immediate family so my father could definitely be there, and then the big wedding later on. Not sure if you would want to do this but thought I'd suggest it as an option. Yes you will be married already when your wedding rolls around but it's an idea.

Your story almost had me in tears, I am so sorry that this is happening to you. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

For the invites, how were you planning on wording them? I would keep it the same - thats how you wanted it and your dad will always be your dad even when you are carring him in your heart.

Remember even if your father is not physically present to walk you down the aisle nothing can beat the presence of him always in your heart and mind.

My FH father was killed in a car accident, and his sister asked my FH to walk her down the aisle...if you have a brother perhaps he can.

That is so terrible, I am so sorry to hear this, my friends mom was just affected by this disease so I know what you are going through. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am sorry I don't have an answer to your questions.

It is unfair..pancreatic cancer is what took my aunt away from us July 28, 2007. SHe was younger than you...my prayers go to you so much..I wish I could make it all better so you can have the perfect wedding. Your father is going to need all the hugs and kisses possible...concentrate on that..we are all here for you. As I am writinig you this, I am thinking of all the ways I am trying to have her memory alive in my wedding...including my bo-k being her favorite roses and playing her songs she loved...no matter what..your dad will see you on your wedding day..
