me too and im jewish
i actually felt that since there were over a dozen jewish people at the wedding it was kind of insulting as if we didnt' matter
i mean, what were we supposed to do with it???

wow, not one person you know or are friends with is jewish? i always grew up surrounded by lots of different cultures and ethnicities so it would be weird for me if my whole wedding were white, jewish people
but anyway, it would be like me giving out mini menorahs at my wedding
and not giving a c r a p about the other guests

Here's a warning to the people doing CD favors. I think that is an awesome and very personal idea for favors, BUT - we were at a wedding two weeks ago where the B&G did this, only they used they really cheap CDs and cheap labels. We didn't notice until we put the CD in our car and it got stuck!!!!! So, a word to the wise, don't buy the cheapest labels and discs, b/c it can be a real pain in the butt!!! I'd tell you the brand (FH is big into electronics and things like this so he is the one who identified the reason for the screw up as the quality of the disc) but we STILL haven't gotten it out of the CD player!

Ooh no that's horrible....it's probably the sticky label and it got flipped up so it's 'sticking' to the inside of your cd player.

Another great favor was from wedding I went to last summer, a Versace wine stopper, every guest got a different color they were gorgeous!

You see you guys get to choose your own favors, our goumbari is picking it out for FH and I, I am sure they will pick out something nice (I dont care whatever it is) but hey you never know if the guests are going to like it or not

these arent necessarily HORRIBLE gifts - they are just things I don't use

1. i don't like getting small photo albums ( you know the ones where one picture fits on a page and it holds about 20). Im just the type tat likes to have the buig albuyms and fit an entire years worth of pictures in that album - i dont like haveing 50 small ones - so i just wouldnt use it.

2. i don't like too many things that have the person(s) name on it - especially if its going to be something that is nice and will be dissplayed (or like someone else said a keychain - i dont want someone elses name on my keys )

3. i do not like (and this is not so much wedding but more like baby shower) when they give you a favor that is a baby in a baby basket or a baby bottle - like what in gods name am i going to do with that?

we're doing a donation to cancer research. my fh's mother passed away almost 10yrs ago, i never got a chance to meet her. so we thought it would be nice to at least honor her during the wedding with a donation in her name. so i'm going to make scrolls saying what we did and why.

i want her to be known and respected. and it means alot to FH to have his mother recognized. and makes me feel a little better seeing as i never was able to meet her.

oh and there will be a poem read during the ceremony dedicated to her as well.

I don't think I have ever been to a wedding where I hated a favor, I think its mean to say you hate something that came from the couples heart and probably put alot of time and effort into..

Personally we're doing christmas ornaments, and we also don't have any jewish gusts because I could see how that would defiantly we a rude gift to someone with a different belief. We also are doing red hots with labels that say 'Love is friendship set on fire'

That's what we're doing as well...
We lost FH's mom in March of 2006, just three months after we got engaged. So, we're incorporating her into as many aspects of the wedding as we can, just in a subtle way...
