i got a Xmas ornament

me too and im jewish
i actually felt that since there were over a dozen jewish people at the wedding it was kind of insulting as if we didnt' matter
i mean, what were we supposed to do with it???

i was wonderign that... bc i have gotten a few for xmas.. and they kno im jewish!@?@#$!

oh well

lol yeah i guess that would be weird if you gave out xmas ornaments to people who werent catholic./dont have xmas trees.....i dont have any jewish guests so i dont have to worry about that....but i can see how that would be

wow, not one person you know or are friends with is jewish? i always grew up surrounded by lots of different cultures and ethnicities so it would be weird for me if my whole wedding were white, jewish people
but anyway, it would be like me giving out mini menorahs at my wedding
and not giving a c r a p about the other guests

lol mini menorahs thats funny.....

well FH's family is all italian/roman catholic....my family is also catholic but they really aren't religious.......one of my best friends happens to be jewish, he is actually the only jewish one.... but as he says, he was just born that way - he is the least religious person i know - more of an athiest - his g/f who he lives with is catholic and they put up a tree.......but now that i am thinking of it, its really strange that i have only 1 jewish friend....and i am looking around my office and there is only 1 jewish person here too......thats really weird!!!!!!

One of my FAV favors was a DIY favor that I knew took my friend FOREVER to make. It was a flowerpot with a pack of seeds. The seeds had a personalized label on them and there was a sticker on the bottom of the pot!!!

Here's a warning to the people doing CD favors. I think that is an awesome and very personal idea for favors, BUT - we were at a wedding two weeks ago where the B&G did this, only they used they really cheap CDs and cheap labels. We didn't notice until we put the CD in our car and it got stuck!!!!! So, a word to the wise, don't buy the cheapest labels and discs, b/c it can be a real pain in the butt!!! I'd tell you the brand (FH is big into electronics and things like this so he is the one who identified the reason for the screw up as the quality of the disc) but we STILL haven't gotten it out of the CD player!

in my car it doesn't matter - ANY label gets stuck... in fact I have a demo CD from Bravura still stuck in my car.

I've never received a worst favor... but the best favor - wine bottle stopper. So practical.

Two peas in a pod salt and pepper shaker.. its still sitting in the box taking up space. I didn't hate it , it was just useless to me.

I actually love the idea of salt and pepper shakers, especially that one....it's a small little whimsical item that doesn't necessarily have to match your decor but looks really cute when you take them out to put on the table to use.

Yea they are cute and all..they are just alittle too small to be used as an actual salt and pepper shaker ..I also got a heart shaped small lenox box that I don't use which is too bad becuase they were probably close to $10 ea.

Re: the worst wedding favor..

honestly, I hardly ever used any favors I received. I got coasters at 2 weddings, so now I have 8, and they are good for my outdoor bar. I got a frame years ago and still use that -- but pretty much everything else I never really liked. I am just giving a donation in my guests' names instead.

I do think the idea of seeds is a cute one, however ... .my FH thought it was silly.

I just want to tell you girls about a GREAT favor my parents got recently.

They went to a coworker of my fathers daughters wedding. Throughout the night, the photographer went around and got a pic of every couple there. (I'm not sure what he did with singles). Then, when they left, there was a table with their pic in a beautiful frame, and that was their favor! I thought it was a great idea. FH thought it was too intrusive, though.

ETA: It was the coworkers daughter, not the coworker himself.

When we went to Fh's cousins wedding last year in italy they did that

Re: the worst wedding favor..

Awesome!! Would you like to share some of your ideas? Deb had gotten porcelain sandcastles from PartyLite Candles, about five years ago,
when she planned her first wedding, and the guy walked. But she has always wanted a beach wedding, so she still plans to use the castles.
Her floral Shop is April Flowers. The gal plans to incorporate floral arrangements, with shells. There will be white anemones, white stargazer lilies, and perhaps white roses, with touches of pink. The white flowers will have an edging of sparkly teal/aqua shade.Since Deb thinks she can't afford table runner/overlays, and chair covers with sashes, with her coordinatiing Bridesmaid color, she was thinking of spreading the different shades of aqua glass stones on the neutral table linens, but that idea isn't 'set in stone' yet!!
She had originally wanted the Bridesmaids to carry seashell kissing balls, but has opted for floral bouquets. She has her choice of Bridesmaid gowns narrowed to two/three, which she plans to get either from Weddings by Paulette, here in Lancaster County, or at David's Bridal, depending on who can come closest to the shade of teal/aqua, that she has mind. Hope you and Deb can chat soon, and compare notes.
Thanks!! Mary, MOB
