the yankee game...

even though I don't like the yankees, I really thought they were going to win.

A lot of yankee fans who give me grief about the mets ALL the time were bragging how they were going to easily win game 4 and sweep boston, because they had El Dooko pitching for them.

It's pretty embarrassing to loose game 7 after being ahead 3-0 in the series. So go on now make fun of the mets if that makes you feel better loosing to Boston of all teams at home in Yankee Stadium.

I'm sure old Georgie poo must be mighty mad.

Re: the yankee game...

I for one don't make fun of the Mets. It's not worth the time or energy for me.

But I'm not surprised to see so many Mets fans salivating about this. I wouldn't expect anything else from them.

Re: the yankee game...

Yankee fans just can't take the heat. They can give it about the mets, redsox or whoever but when it's on them they just can't handle it....

Re: the yankee game...

Oh I can take the heat. That's why I'm on here today even though I knew the Mets fans would let us Yankee fans hear it.

It's just that you saying that was already about the 50th time I've heard it today and I'm sorry but it's stupid coming from a Mets fan. If a Sox fan wants to say it because we tormented Pedro with it then that's fine with me. But I wont hear it from a Mets fan.

I'll say this for the 1,000th time: Yankee fans already have a rival. We really don't care about the Mets and what their fans have to say. Focus your energy on your division. Start hating someone in your division or even in your league.

I have refrained from this thread, but I must make my point

It is amazing that certain people who HARDLY post about anything else on LIWs (of course , I am NOT referring to my rival Don) decided to resurface today and post exclusively on Yankee bashing threads. Not to mention, initiated a thread on the YANKEE board just to stir up trouble.

The Yankee and Mets boards were basically created so that the fans of each team could stay out of one another's business , and to discourage this type of bickering amongst us on NWR. Because at that time it was taking over NWR day after day and the moderators of this site thought it would be a better idea. MOST everyone has stuck by those 'rules' , so to speak

It does not surprise me that it took a Mets fan (again, NOT DON) to immediately break this trend once the Yankees lost the ALCS.

Where have you been all these looong months since the subway series ended, i.e., once the Mets started descending quickly to the bottom of their division? After you had your time to gloat about sweeping us and got your bragging rights for the year, somehow things got remarkably quiet on METS FORUM. Didn't have much to say on the Mets board all these months, now did ya? Understandable.

You certainly have never seen me or any of the Yankee fans posting on METS and/or stirring up trouble. We all know it would have been so very easy to bash the Mets countless times this season, but really what would be the point? You already knew your team was tanking and you moved on. As we will

As Jen524 said, I'm not the type of Yankee fan who comes on these boards to purposely seek out and offend and bash Mets fans. THat is fine during the subway series, and I'll dish it out to Don and the others for a good laugh.

Our TRUE rival is the Sox, and I can take all the heat from the Sox fans today - they deserve their moment to gloat and put us in our place for the way they beat us.

So thanks a bunch for your intellectual input and for stating the obvious about the Yankees loss this series.

I'm sure you feel much better about yourself today

I truly can understand that and I have said to my friends who are Mets fans that it must be very hard living in the shadows of the Yankees. I'm not trying to be mean at all by that comment. I'm not being sarcastic. I mean it. But at the same time to go along with the favorite child theory look at it from a Yankee fans point of view...they don't care about the other child's feelings. They are getting what they want. So Yankee fans, well at least diehard Yankee fans, wont go out of their way to insult the Mets when their team is down. Because we don't care.

During the subway series I get into it. Of course I torment the Mets fans when the Yankees win and I expect the same from them when the roles are reversed. But other then that I don't get on the Mets fans when their team is down.

Besides I have to put my anger towards the Red Sox fans. It's almost a full time job keeping up with this rivalry.

Re: the yankee game...

Not that it's any of your business but I have been off the boards for a personal family matter.

I can come and go as I please without having to explain my absence to you. And I can post wherever I want.

Yankee fans get nasty when bugged about their team.

I am sorry for whatever personal family matter kept you away from the boards. You are correct, you have no obligation to answer to me or anyone else for that matter. That wasn't my point at ALL.

It just seemed highly coincidental that of all times and days in this entire year to resurface, you chose the day after the Yankees lost the ALCS. You cannot blame me for thinking this was deliberate, now can you?

Again, I will agree with you -- you can come and go as you please. These boards are open to everyone. But further to that, I am also allowed to take offense when I see certain people solely come onto these boards , and purposely go on the Yankee forum no less, with their main intent being to stir the pot and/or insult the Yankee fans. We already feel bad enough. Similarly to how I'm sure the Mets fans felt when their team took a turn for the worse after the AllStar break.

My point being -- why add salt to the wound when , in all honesty, Yankee and Mets have little to do with one another?

Trust me -- I don't get 'nasty' when being 'bugged' by my team. I just defend my team, as any fan would. If that comes across harsh, I am sorry but I cannot change the way I feel. And I'm sure you would do the same

Thanks for the response
