I am a very indecisive person as it is. Just whenI find the most perfect place, I find out: I can not make the minimum, or it is too much money, or I have to get married on a Friday or Sunday! Then they show me the little room for the same price for the larger , prettier room! I always want to see the 'bigger'room but they never want me to even step inside! Ugh!!!! HELP!

Check out the new Hamlet Willow Creek in Mt.Sinai 125 min and 210 max only 1 room
I second this 100%. Like you, I visited 20+ catering halls. The HWC was the one hall that I almost went with. Barbara is absolutely amazing and the place is gorgeous because it is so new. For a your smaller wedding I think it will be perfect!
Best of Luck!

Re: There is no 'perfect' hall...
have you tried Lombardi's on the Sound at the Port Jeff OCuntry Club? We got married there and it was wonderful. Our guests keep talking about how beautiful the place was and how delicious the food was. We had no time to eat, but I heard the eggplant rollatini was to die for! hehe

oh, forgot to tell you the minimum was 75. we had 130 people and I hear they can hold 200. There is only one room for weddings.

Re: There is no 'perfect' hall...
It can actually be harder for your guest list range than my 200-225! Many people have to pay for 100 plates even though they use 95- I love the atmosphere at Stewart Manor CC- it's a cute place but we needed more room. Check them out...
Also, consider that if you have a small wedding in a large room it may look too empty. My MOH had her wedding at Huntington Town House and had cocktails on one side and dinner on the other but the whole thing stayed open the whole night- It didn't feel right.
Did you consider Milleridge Inn? They have a few lovely rooms in the main building that look great (I have only seen the smaller ones in person) and I hear they have good food and service.
Don't worry too much about Sunday with out-of-towners- unless there is a special person you really care about--people will attend if they really want to be there. I went to a Sunday night wedding in NJ and just left a little early. Went to work tired the next day...

First, when you call and set up the appointment find out if your date is available and what the hall's minimum requirement is. This will save you a TON of heartache. There were a bunch of places I never went because I wasn't willing to commit to their minimum guarantee and that was after requesting a Sunday evening.
Saturday evenings are the most popular and the most expensive of wedding time/day choices. Let's face it, there are only 52 of them a year. Consider October the 8th, (instead of the 7th) it is the Sunday before Columbus Day - many people will have off that day. Friday evening is also good - you know your guests will be off the next day. Another advantage of Friday night is that most halls do not do Friday afternoon weddings (like they do on Saturday and Sunday), and that way you can do a twilight ceremony (like 4 pm) and get daylight and sunset, and essentially get the entire hall to yourself.
I looked at 14 placed before going with East Wind. There is a place out there for you, and you will find it - just don't throw in the towel!

I TOTALLY agree!!! I have written posts like this also. FH and I r finally kind of decided now. We're probably going with Majestic Gardens!! It is beautiful and recently renovated! They give u ur pricing Based on ur min. so there is no such thing as not making the min. It is also 1 wedding at a time. Check it out if u haven't already. We looked at 24 places so i'm right there w/u!!

You could also try the Milleridge Inn. They have the Carriage House which is for 50-130 people and they have the Cottage which is for 100-450. I'm not sure of their price, but a friend's sister had her wedding there and I was told it was really nice. Their website is www.milleridge.com if you want to check it out. Congrats and Good Luck!! Try not to stress-you'll find something.

Try Crest Hollow. We only had 145 and that room required 130. We had our on a Sunday. It was a very large room, which was what I had wanted.

Nothing.. I just have a lot of out of towners and most have to work the next day.
We got married on a Sunday and had a lot of OOTers too. I think in our case, the people who really wanted to come were there, even though they had to take a day off to be there, and the ones who didn't, I don't think would have come regardless of when we had it. If you have it on Sat., some might have to take off Friday to get there. As someone else said, do what works for you- the people closest to you will come.
We had the smaller room at the Swan Club, and I actually liked it the best of the 3 rooms (no offense to any other SC brides )

Re: There is no 'perfect' hall...
we're getting married on a Sunday and 80% of our guests are OOT.
the ones who are not coming can't make it because of money or family obligations (kid going in for surgery). Sunday was not a factor in their decision.

Re: There is no 'perfect' hall...
Our wedding was a Sunday as well. Lots of out of towners! My DH's family is from England and Scottland and my parents Florida, not to mention my siblings... they are all over the country. We had a few non-family guests travel here. And everyone is right, if yuor guests want to be there, the will travel for you regardless of the day, date and time. Not one of our OOT invitations came back with a 'decline with regret'.

I am getting married at the Timber Point CC in Great River. I'm not sure what the min is but I don't think it is that much. The price is reasonable especially if you're flexible. I am getting married on a Sat. day because it was $30/pp cheaper than Sat. night and we are basically paying for the wedding ourselves. The food is fabulous and the atmosphere is very elegant yet quaint. You should check it out.
