There is no 'perfect' hall...

Original post by PeterNChris

I am a very indecisive person as it is.
Just whenI find the most perfect place, I find out: I can not make the minimum, or it is too much money, or I have to get married on a Friday or Sunday!
Then they show me the little room for the same price for the larger , prettier room!
I always want to see the 'bigger'room but they never want me to even step inside!
Ugh!!!!
HELP!

I am having a Friday evening wedding @ 6pm and got a bit of a break from my hall as compared to Saturday night. It works out great because people can still come after work and still party all night with me. You should consider Friday...

Like everyone else said, if people really want to come, they will make the effort. We are getting married on LABOR DAY! On a MONDAY! Pretty much the same as a Sunday but cheaper. You might even want to consider that. I worried like you about our guests having to go to work the next day too but then I prioritized. Don't worry.

Sunset Harbour was GREAT and so are their prices! Definitely worth checking out!

Good Luck!

ETA: I had problems finding halls with a low minimum that offered what we wanted INCLUDING a bathroom in the bridal suite. It's ridiculous what we went through in our search!

I gave up on that - the restrooms have large stalls so I think I'll be OK

I was like you too - I'm indecisive and it took me forever to choose. Stay calm, you'll find a place. I woudl also sugegst Milleridge and Timber Point I looked at and was quite nice. The Riviera was nice too as is Vineyard Caterers. My all time favorite place - for which we were too large is Vanderbilt at Dowling. Also, i ended up with a Sunday due to date changes. I feel bad too still about OOT guests and others who have work, but nothing is ever going to be perfect and they'll be so happy to share in your day it won't matter once they're there!
Good luck, keep us posted!

Don't you just love Andy?! He is awesome. I have been to a few events there. Food is good. Price is low.

FYI

I went to Milleridge , I didn't like how the BM was uninterested in our wedding, it really dissapointed me. Our BM was more consired with weddings being booked in the Cottage than the carriage house, Which we would have been in.

We're dissapointd b/c we live so close and go to the Milleridge Village for sweet bread and other yummy treats, it def. has the Ol world charm.

The bm's attitude is the only reason we didn't book there

you will find a place. you will see.

and, as someone else said, don't go crazy trying to cater to your guests' schedules. we are having a Sat. night wedding and one of my relatives doesn't stop saying that it ends too late for her. all this $$ for a saturday night and people still complain!!!

You should try Patchogue Manor! Really good price and flexibility! They're on this website too.

Yes there is no 'perfect' hall BUT there is one for everyone..think about how many hundreds of places there are to get married in the NY Metro area...its insane and we are lucky to have so many choices!!

You and your FI need to pick the one that is just right for you and your wedding

We had a similar problem...couldnt meet the minimum or the price was out of this world...so we decided to settle for Westbury Manor. And now that I think about it, its ok, Im happy. My perfect wedding would of been at the NY Botanical Garden (The Snuff Mill) but on hello they wanted $150 pp...

Also, I think I went to so many places that makes it even harder to decide!

Could be...I narrowed it down to 2 places...WM and Swan Club. But when we went to WM, we liked the place and they offered us an amazing deal that we just couldnt turn away.

What about the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. FBIL and his wife got married there last July and it was really nice. The food was excellent also. I believe they payed well under $100 p.p. and had around 100 people on a Saturday night. Did you ever think about a day time wedding?
