Thinking of switching my date from 2011 to 2010...thoughts?

Hi all!

I got engaged on Thanksgiving and originally we were thinking of October 2011, but after meeting with some potential planners and discussing it we are considering switching the date to November 2010. Do you think I have enough time if I do that? I haven't started at all except for meeting with potential planners, but I have heard that since it will be less than 12 months and a November wedding we can get some great discounts, I'm just worried, will I have time to do everything?
I'm dead set on a fall wedding, so there is no in-between, it is either fall 2010 or fall 2011. Thoughts?

Thanks ladies!

I'm a November girl and while I DO have a lot done already, I think it would be possible to get all of it done within a year.

You have about 11 months, so I think that's sufficient time!

While a lot of us here have longer engagements, there are plenty of girls who get Married in less than a year..I totally think it can be done..I think my cousin planned hers in like 9 months

My sister got eng thanksgiving weekend and marrried the next thanksgiving weekend.......she didn't really start 'planning' until January of that year......she was totally fine! I think if you want to change it, you totally can, just don't wait too long!

Absolutely, I think you just need to be organized and with the help of a planner(which it sounds like you might have) you can totally do it! I would just focus on booking major vendors first and then worry about little details.

You can DEFINITELY get it done. I'm having a June wedding and I got engaged at the end of May....but didn't even start thinking about the wedding until September. Especially with a planner, I wouldn't worry at ALL. Do it!!!!!

i don't really think you should be worried about how much time you have to plan. you should really sit down with your finances & see how much you have saved & how much you need to save. & that goes for anyone who will be helping pay for your wedding.
since i don't know your personal situation, there are other things you need to consider. do & you FH live together yet? if you do, is that where you will be living after the wedding. those are just 2 of the things that you should be considering.

You can definitely plan a wedding in under 6 months let alone the time frame you are discussing. I planned a wedding in two months recently but her options were very limited so I don't recommend that at all.

I think you can absolutely do it as long as you stay organized. Plenty of people plan a wedding in less than a year. You just have to be sure to book all the vendors that you know you definitely want soon to be sure they're not booked up! Good luck!

I think you could definitely do it within a year. As long as you are flexible with your date and vendors, you should be fine.

ITA. You may not have all of the options that you want, but it is do-able.

FH and family are from LI, he works at the family business in Lynbrook. We live in the city now but will most likely be having the wedding on LI.

I think it's completely do-able. I'd say start shopping for RHs asap to make sure you can get your date. After you get your RH and/or church, the vendors shouldn't be so hard because there are sooo many to choose from. We'll help you as you go!!
