This is getting VERY expensive!

Re: This is getting VERY expensive!

I go through stages - there's moments where I think we're OK financially and other moments when I think 'OMG how are we ever gonna afford all this' and it seems that the more time goes by the bigger the bill gets I just came to the conclusion that somehow this will all get payed off and it'll be worth the extra work because this is the one day we'll look back on forever. Just try to keep that in perspective and everything will be ok.

whenever we sit down and do that-- it's at least three glasses of wine and a lot of tears. so we have completely stopped ourselves from doing that-- it just freaks us out so we just save a lot and avoid that at all costs b/c it's like a panic attack waiting to happen-- don't worry somehow, you guys will do it!!!

ETA: we were supposed to be at about $60 and we are coming in at like $80-- ok, i'm going to stop thinking about this now b/c breakfast is going to come up

I go in stages too - but Im the better one of the two - FH really freaks out - so i stay calm to assure him that everything will be OK. He sits down and want to know what EVERYTHING will cost - and wants it to be fair and 50/50 to the penny! I love my FH - but sometimes he drives me crazy!!!!!

It is insane...we are both saving and it's over a year away...but I am still cutting corners where I can..I feel like the invitation list will be difficult, since we've already discussed it many times...and I am not getting any $3000 gown either...I think you just haveto prioritize..unfortunately it seems like to have any wedding at all in NY it's a lot of $1000s of $$$$$$

At first when I read the post I figured that this was just a good spot to vent your frustrations about $$$ spent on the wedding.

But now I'm wondering if so many ladies are worried about the cost and having to get 2nd or 3rd jobs and FH working double ovetime to pay for the wedding why not just go with your first thought of a Destination wedding, Smaller wedding. Or having a small wedding and a HUGE party later? I'm not tryng to tell anyone what to do, everyone has an idea of what they want their big day to look like. Just odd too complain if you're the ones that want the BIG day to be elaborate or costly. This is just my opinion you dont have to agree and Im not jumping at anyone, Just what I'm thinking at the time.

I understand what you mean... and trust me the thought has gone through my mind.. but my DREAM has always been to have it at Villa Lombardi's and I believe to go for your dreams.. my FH is the bread winner.. and I felt that I can't make him pay for most of this.. I need to contribute fairly too.. so I took it upon myself to work a few saturdays a month waitress big affairs to bring in some extra money to help out. I think I will feel sooo good about myself when this is all said and done that we did this on our own! In the meantime.. I know and I'll have to deal with the wedding stress.. as many people will have!
U make a good point though for people that would really really consider a destination wedding!

I AM SO glad this didnt get taken out of context. I cant and wont knock your hustle for getting what you want. If you've taken the steps to ensure your dream comes true, then I say go for what you want!

i totally agree! It gets out of hand! and its all for one day! one day that you dont fully get to take it all in b/c there is so much that goes on that the day flies by!

Do you know how many brides say that if they had to do it again they would do a destination wedding?!?!? i wonder why!

anyhow, we all go through these stages but the truth is, once your wedding is here, you will appreciate the areas that you didnt skimp on..

try not to let it get to you. we all work hard, so we can play hard!

Fortunately, we're on target, cause I'm a stickler for stuff like that. But I know it'll end up costing more somewhere along the line. With a new baby, and new obligations, we'll be broke soon enough!
