Well, that's how my father delivered the message to me when he got back home from his trip on Monday. (Thanks, Dad!)
I have definetely gained about 15 pounds since I last saw some of them and I'm petite (barely 5'1'), so it shows quicker on me. I'm usually not sensitive when it comes to my weight, but that one stung a little![]()

I swear it never fails...Italian families always find a way to throw in something about gaining weight.

Believe me, it's not just Italian families.
I'm AA, and if I don't hear at least 10 times a day, 'I hope you lost that weight before the wedding'

YEP!!!!! As they are shoving plates of food in your face at the same time!
SO true.....but in my family in was always looked at as GOOD to be bigger, when my great grandmother said you looked bad, then you knew you were skinny!!!

My chinese future in laws say similar things about me. My FMIL was standing behind me and said 'ho fay ah' which means SO FAT. She said it in Cantonese, not realizing I KNEW what she was saying. Of course, standing next to a Chinese family, I will always look big. When Jimmy and I first met, they told me I was too skinny! When I try to diet, my FMIL gets mad at me and says I don't like her cooking! hehe. It is a struggle...![]()

i totally understand. My FMIL never brings up my weight, but when I mention it she'll mention how nice I looked in photos that she's seen of me when I was waaaay skinnier. But, then later she'll give me a FULL plate of food --- very frequently she gives me more food than she gives FH!

dont get yourself upset over it...When we go to visit our family in Italy.....I always feel like I am overweight ( and I am not)

Man that hurts. When I tried on my wedding dress my mother told me my A$$ sticks out. I am not fat but I used to be 260 pounds and it still hurts when people comment on how I look. Mind you, I am not heavy by any means now and FH LOVES the fact that my A$$ sticks out!

I know how you feel.. I am trying so hard to loose weight and I know I look fatter then a few months ago and I know people notice..it really *****!!

Italian families go both ways!!! Either you need to gain weight or lose it!!!
My FMIL always says first thing-you lost weight-I am skinny but its in my genes trust me on this one!!! I cant gain weight!!!
But still they insist I NEED to gain weight!
