This week's anxiety attack---photographers
So this week's anxiety attack is being caused by what photo package/company to go with. I fell in love with one photographer that is offering some great stuff at what seems to be a normal going rate for photographers. On the other hand, our venue’s house vendor is offering us a photographer at a great price, but we would just get the pictures on a disc and have them available online. It would be up to us to make the album and have larger prints done. I would like any feedback from anyone that opted to just get the pictures on a disc and either loved or hated it, as well as vice versa, paid more money for prints and wishes they would have just had a disc or digital copy. The money that we’d save between the two companies could go somewhere else. I’m really toiling over this. Getting what I want versus what is economically and fiscally responsible. By the way, I do like the quality of work from both companies and both have received nearly perfect ratings. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.

There is a large range in prices I have seen from 2014 brides a low of around 2k for naif and then they will print and as high as 6k for a very very large package. The best thing you can do is find someone's work you love and then work on the pricing. You can add or remove things from your package to make costs work for you! If budget is a huge concern there are many awesome photographers that will shoot and then give you the disk and your free to print. I even had one photographer tell me that we could get albums cheaper than his!Hope this helps! Also make sure you love the recommended photographer you don't always have to feel obligated to choose them!

Our house vendor offered us a price that was $2000 lower than what we got with North Island. I knew I loved North Island before I even went there and they went above and beyond and completely exceeded our expectations and I definitely think that every penny we're spending will be worth it. Photos are really important to me and I would rather have all the extras and know that I have them than worry about regretting it down the line. However, I do see what you mean when you say that the money could be better spent - that's really a personal decision. I think you have to decide what is important to you. If pictures aren't at the top of your list, I'd go for the less expensive one and save yourself the money or put it to use in a different area. I would have to say that the fact that your questioning in instead of just jumping on the better deal says that you do care about your pictures and it may be a good decision to use the more expensive photographer with the bigger package. That's just my opinion. Best of luck!!

My honest opinion is that photography is not where you should trim the budget. When all is said and done, all you have is the photographs (oh, and a husband! Lol). We exceeded our photo/video budget by a looooot but it was totally worth it bc were getting what we want with someone we trust. Then again, I've gone over budget (well, we didn't really have a set in stone budget to begin with) for pretty much everything. So maybe listening to me isn't the best idea.

When my sister got married, she went with all of the house vendors and her biggest regret was her photographer. She didn't get the chance to have the right vibe with them and it reflected in the work. Nothing seemed to be very 'her'. For my time around, I found a company whos prices and packages really impressed me and when we met totally sent me good vibes. You need to consider what your brain, heart, and wallet are saying for this one. Don't let one outside the others!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. In reference to MrsDtoBe - I LOVE pictures and so do my family, but my fiancée does not like pics - so she's leaving that decision to me. So taking the more expensive package I want with the company I vibed with feels so selfish - but as mentioned - it's a major part of the wedding. I already cut out video - so I don't have to feel too bad right?! Lol I'm going to make a few more phone calls and appointments before my final decision which will hopefully be soon. Happy Friday ladies :0)

I agree with this! lol. we went way over budget for our photographer. to me spending more on photography was just something we had to do because it's literally the only thing you'll really have after, besides like she said the husband lol.

You both make sense...especially since I LOVE pictures. Just gotta stop feeling guilty about splurging on what I want. Wedding planning is not for those who get 'Buyers Remorse'. Lol Again thanks for the advice and suggestions - will keep everyone update. Have a great week everyone!!!
