I know Thomas Paul and Patken are completely different styles, but I just wanted everyone's opinion on them. Please only comment if you have met with either/both of them. I tried calling Patken today and they gave me the runaround with calling different numbers. I got so frustrated that I didn't even call to make an appt. I called Tom and he was really easy going. My FH and I love contemporary photos, but my parents like traditional. I want to make sure that I can satisfy all of us. If you guys can give me pros and cons for each of them, that would be great! I know it's just your opinion, but something is better than nothing.

I never met w. Thomas Paul, but I did meet w. Patken. They were a little pricey but I felt they were worth it. Their work def. stands out from the rest. I recommend Jessie as your photographer, her work is amazing. When you go meet w. Patken ask to see her album. Not sure if I was any help, but good luck!!!

I never met with Patken, but i met with Thomas Paul and booked with him. He is the most down to earth person and easy to talk to. I felt so comfortable with him. I absolutely love all the work that i have seen on here from brides that have used him and also from the albums he showed me.
in my opinion he has a different style to his work, its not very traditional, or posey

I went to meet with Patken and really like Jesse's photos...I thought she did a really nice job with both traditional and photojournalistic. But they werent very accomodating with their packages and I felt they were very pricey...I never met with Thomas Paul but I spoke to him and he seemed really nice. I am not a huge fan of his pics...JMO

Fh and I looked into TP, Patken, and several others, but once we saw Dan Wagner that was it!!!!!!! Fh is a photo expert, and is even more excited than I am, if that's possible about having Dan at our wedding. His wedding, commercial work, blog, and celebrity photos are GREAT!!!!! Also, Dan only takes wedding he can shoot himself. Good luck. TP and Patken are good too.

We are booked with TP. I like his candid, photojouranlistic style, but he will also do the traditional 'posed' portraits....that should satisfy your family!

I called Patken for pricing (thought they were a bit expensive) and then met with Thomas Paul. I immediately felt comfortable with TP, his prices were great, and I liked his work. I just got my proofs back last week and I'm so happy with them. There were a good mix of candid/photojournalistic and traditional posed.

I love TP because he can give that great mixture of styles. People often say that don't like his 'Photoshop' style but he only uses that on like 6 photos that you choose anyway, all of your pics won't have clouds and snowflakes. Plus he has great prices.

We meet with Patken and i felt the same way about getting the run around 1st the office wasn't opened when we got there the lady was like 20 minutes late then she was the only one there and had people calling and coming in and couldn't spend the time on us. Don't get me wrong they had great pictures in there albums but I just didn't feel right about them. But the 1st time I talked to Thomas Paul I knew he was the one we would book with. He is so easy going and great to deal with and we didn't even have him as our photographer we had Brian who was also great! Tom will give you whatever you want just ask him hes very honest and doesn't play games with you. Good Luck!!

Patken all the way. They are expensive but sat with me and made me a package that I can afford b/c I told them I wanted them and only them! My friend had Jessie and loved her!

TP all the way! They both have very different styles I would look at the reviews on here from both and decide which style you like better!

Loved patken...you can look at my album for a reference of what they do -patkenphotographer.com -hit clients -under events type 'watson/gardner' -go to the next page and use '032808' as the pw -hit the magnifying glass under the first pic to make it larger...then scroll through...
I prefered more traditional...but they do both...Good luck!!
