How old are you?

I have friends from college who are in their late 20s and make this combined...Most are lawyers for large, high profile law firms in the city...

I know a couple that makes about...$300,000 combined. And neither one of them are lawyers. They both have their bachelor's degrees. Husband is a CPA and the wife works for VH1. And they are about 29.

Tell me about it. BUT, they don't seem like the happiest couple to me. She works insane hours and he is always home alone. I'd rather be broke and happy!

ETA: Her bonus was more than my salary this year! And I make pretty good money! So I thought...

We do. I'm 27 and my husband is 28. The scary thing is that living in NYC - I don't even feel like this is enough! In fact, I'm constantly telling my husband how everyone is making more money than us! There was an article in the nytimes a few weeks ago about how you need to make this much to live in NYC. Its just plain CRAZY. AND>>>>what's CRAZIER is that I still couldn't afford a house!!!! I just don't understand it

I don't make squat...$17k to be exact, so we don't really combine our incomes. Mine is just spending money.

But my DH was in the mid-six figure range when he was in his late 20's.

ETA, DH is in sales.

Combined Gross is probably at or just over 200k. I'm 33 and Dh is 39. We both work in the financial field. I have an advanced degree, Dh does not. Sales jobs in the right field can pay very well.
