I have very bad anxiety too...
I try to avoid the situations that stress me out (one is driving) but i'm ok with driving to/from school and other places i frequently go to. I have a GPS that plugs into my car which also helps with my anxiety about getting lost, and my anxiety about being late (it displays an estimated arrival time).
I have the same issues with driving. Especially if im a passenger. This drives FH nuts and we fight all the time over my 'dramatic responses' if a car cuts us off or if hes tailgating. I am getting to the point where i just dont want to go anywhere cause im tired of all the stress it causes to get there.
Ive been heavily considering taking meds as of late although i really dont want too. I feel like i am always anxious and always in a bad mood since i have myself so stressed about money and the wedding and just everything in general. A few weeks ago I had to put my old dog to sleep since she couldnt walk or eat anymore, we decided to take her body home and bury her, I couldnt get the image out of my head that we somehow buried her alive and that I made a horrible decision. I lost quite a few nights of sleep.
I get head aches and neck/back aches all the time. I get horrible dizzy spells. Im afraid its all going to get worse the closer we come to the wedding and that FH is going to have enough of it. I havent been to therapy yet but I dont know if it would help, or make it worse. The thought of going to a doc about it had me all in a tizzy.. Maybe ill try those drops when things get real bad and go from there.
Sorry for the long post.. Im about to go meet Pastor April, which involves a 30 minute car ride and talking to a stranger.. about me... two of the worse things you could do to me...

I find exercising helps, especially when I'm super stressed with school exams, work, etc.

Re: Those who suffer from anxiety
i make sure if i'm in public that i leave, go to my car, find a bathroom, whatever i have to do to make sure that i'm alone, and then i cup my hands over my nose and mouth, and concentrate only on breathing. there was only one time it every really became an issue where i needed someone's help...and it was actually at the '08 shower. michele had to take me in another room, rub my temples and then my hands, and calm me down.
for some reason it usually happens to me when i'm driving. which freaks me out even more.
sorry, i don't really have any serious medical suggestions for you...my mom was the one who told me about breathing into my hands an concentrating on nothing else...that usually works for me.

I have to sleep it off usually. I first have to remove myself from the situation that has made me anxious and sleep.
I tried Paxil, it was just ok.
I usually get the anxiety from replaying a certain event in my head. So its hard to remove myself from the situation. I have a problem where I dwell on things I cant change and that causes the anxiety to the point where I cant sleep.
I have the same problem I cant stop replaying the scene. It happened with picking my florist which normally isnt a hard thing to do. Anyway I never took meds for it but I have panic attacks too around large amounts of people. I took Yoga and Ti CHi and I have to say that helped alot. I do T-Chi in my head and concentrate on the movements and I calm down. Also when I cant sleep I lay on my back with arms at my side faced up and with my heals touching tap my feet together on the sides not the bottoms. Do this for 10 min just keeping your mind on the tapping of your feet and I swear you wont remember when you fell asleep. HTH sorry so long.

I'm on medication and I have been for about a year. It has really helped me a lot.
Same here, my doctor put me on medication a few years ago and it has helped.

Re: Those who suffer from anxiety
since starting school and being engaged my anxiety level has sky rocketed...
this is an example of how i escape it...
the other night i literally could not get this situation out of my head and i just kept thinking of all the WORST outcomes so bad that i couldnt go back to sleep it was like 430 am. i tried for an hour and a half to get back to sleep and everything i would close my eyes i would brake out in a sweat and everything thinking of it... so i get up out of bed, lock myself in the bathroom turn off the lights light a candle and focus on the flame, it makes you focus on something stupid so your mind is off of it... it worked so great i fell asleep on the bathroom floor till my alarm went off at 645am it was kinda funny but it really wokred

Yes. Anything that works to take you out of the stressful situation or state of mind is key.
