Time for LIW brides to be honest

Original post by myasmom

I consider myself to have formed an online realtionship with many of you

With that said....
Is it me or has anyone else noticed that its the weddings that spent $$$$$ that get considered to be the best wedding ever but the ones that did not cost as much $$ or at lesser known places dont get the same raves.

This is not a personal attack or anything...just an observation, not only from myself but from other members who some of us havent even realized are not posting as frequently anymore...

I really htink that its time we all realize that its not the place, the flowers or anything like that that make a wedding beautiful. When u look at the pictures..are the guests smiling or is it just a pretty room...seriously...what do you think makes a wedding beautiful?

P>S I am not trying to start an argument or anything..just curious...I have gotten alot of FMS and just wanted to feel out some of my fellow brides & B2B's!

thats one aspect to it..I was just trying to get opinions..but instead it is turning into something bigger?

Lets just forget about it.

I was not rying to start an argument..just get opinions.
And some people feel that if their wedding is not as elaborate..it dows not get that much attention..And that is not my personal expereince but I have seen it and I KNOW I am not the only one..so I am just curious as to what people felt a good wedding is comprised of..

I think the other thing to remember is that there are girls that are more well-known than others on these boards. Just for the fact that they post more, share more, answer more threads, etc. So I think when one of these brides post their reviews and people recognize the name they click on it and read and respond. I'll be the first to admit that I don't always respond to every thread I look at and it's nothing against that bride - it's either I don't have time, my boss is around, etc.

Ah, now I understand the thread a little more. I have an observation...sometimes the way the review was written has something to do with whether or not it gets 'that much attention'. For example some reviews are not longer than a paragraph while (just an example) Beth's (and a few others I've seen) are PAGES long. There's just not much you can reply to a paragraph-long review but there is bound to be alot more to comment on, ask questions about, and 'rave' about when the review is more detailed.

I wasn't looking to offend anyone - or start anything - it just seems silly to complain that someone didn't get as much attention as some other bride. There are people on here who are always eager to share or help out so when 'their day' comes around - people usually are curious and excited to see how it all unfolded. I would think that was the reason for the hundred's of responses - and not b/c they spent 'lots more' on their wedding than the next bride.

A beautiful wedding is seeing a bride in groom gushing with love...surrounded by family and friends who not only support and reciprocate that love - but feel it too. It's not about where the reception is or what was spent on it - it's all about those 30-60 minutes where vows are exchanged. IMO.

Donna..thats all the thread needed..your reasoning..you didnt bash..and I TY..
anyone who sees me post knows I am not an ill wille dindividual at all..at least from my posts.

And no I do not sit around all day counting the responses of the threads..I just have freinds on here who looked forward to responses of their reviews and did not get but a handful and even some who have alot of riends chose to share via email rather than on the board.. I was trying tobring it to our attention and as usual it blows up into a big ball.

Now those brides can be rest assured that it was not persoanl after reading the responses on this thread. Wow. I really am shocked by how this turned out.

EvenEdan..i was not saying that if a wedding is not elaborate that a person should not post..thats not at all what I was saying...but thats the way some people feel..I never said it was warranted..merely I could see how they would feel that way..thats all.
Sorry..computers do not let you see my emotion.

My wedding was only $16,000 and to this day I still get compliments on how great it was. Not just by my family, but friends too. They think it was the best wedding ever.

This was not only because we were the ones getting married, but our vendors were awsome and I could not have asked for better service. This was all with out spending a fortune.

I don't think anyone on here bashed anyone - you asked for honesty, and that's what you got. I still - truly - don't understand the purpose of this thread.

The purpose is basically your interpretation..whatever you think it means merits your response. Some people get it and responded...sorry I cant help you more.

I think that the reason the more elaborate weddings get more views...(because this is basically what this thread is about) is because they are usually at places that are not as common. Also, perhaps the bride has been a very active poster?

Who really cares? Sorry JMHO

I will tell you what I look for in a wedding as a guest... of course I am there to celebrate the love of the couple but I also would like to feel like I am part of that celebration... I went to my friend's wedding not long ago and I just felt out of place, she did not speak to me once, she didnt come to the table to speak with us, to take a picture... I just felt like we were there but if we didnt go, we wouldnt be missed...
so in conclusion, I look for some appreciation that we drove hours to be at her wedding and I didnt get it... I was very disappointed...

Also, what if you just like something about a particular wedding? There are some weddings where I see the pics and I just LOVE what I see.

It doesn't mean that I think someone else's wedding was less special.

But I think everyone has preferences - that's why we chose one location over another, one dress over another, etc.

I'm just curios, what is the cutt off line from 'normal' wedding to 'expensive' wedding? What criteria is used?

I am really curious, because we are paying for our own wedding, and since we are paying for it ourselves we wanna save money, but, we don't have time to really do it right, so sometimes we end up getting more expensive simply because we KNOW its nice (some of my friends used them).

What criteria divides expensive to inexpensive wedding?

I don't think it has to do with $$$ spent. I think the more active posters get more responses. People have folowed their planning and they want to see how everything turned out. the weddings seemed elaborate because we have heard about all the details!

You're going to get out of it, what you put into it. Like someone else mentioned, if your entire review is a paragraph long, with no pictures, how could you possibly expect the same amount of reactions and comments as someone who spent the time to write a page worth of reviews plus added tons of pictures?

So true! I know I feel that way!

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

Cluelessbride..no offense I wasnt trying to say we should have banners and signs lol.

I meant...that some of us pointed out that regardless of if the wedding is big or small some chose not to post..and perhaps we should look to the reasons why and ofference any reassurance we can give..we are great at saying what tiara..dress..etc..this is so much mor eimportant.

DOES anyone not realize that some of the weddings we all gave input to have not yet been posted as a review..just think about that...as I cannot go into anymore details without dragging other peoplein and its not my palce to do that. I am not going any further as i tried to be the messenger and I got killed in hte process.
