Time for LIW brides to be honest

Original post by myasmom

I consider myself to have formed an online realtionship with many of you

With that said....
Is it me or has anyone else noticed that its the weddings that spent $$$$$ that get considered to be the best wedding ever but the ones that did not cost as much $$ or at lesser known places dont get the same raves.

This is not a personal attack or anything...just an observation, not only from myself but from other members who some of us havent even realized are not posting as frequently anymore...

I really htink that its time we all realize that its not the place, the flowers or anything like that that make a wedding beautiful. When u look at the pictures..are the guests smiling or is it just a pretty room...seriously...what do you think makes a wedding beautiful?

P>S I am not trying to start an argument or anything..just curious...I have gotten alot of FMS and just wanted to feel out some of my fellow brides & B2B's!

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

In simple terms...
It means that the thread was started in response to some of the views/concerns some fellow brides had. And I merely asked for opinions..which is what I got..if you want to call them that..so now the issue of why some threads get more responses and what truely makes a wedding were touched on.

But as I said before..negativity is a motive for so many people.some cant see that a ??? is simply that...a ???.

if it is a ?? that someone feels does not merit a response...I dont see why even bother.

But I dont wish to keep going back and forth on this. No finger pointing from me..just a question.

No way! I just finally had time to read this whole thread and now it's ended!

For anyone still reading, I just wanted to add that I have looked at the review board maybe twice in my life. It just doesn't occur to me. If someone posts a review on BHB, I'll probably read it. But I never knew I was supposed to be giving feedback on people's reviews. I'll start now!

I don't think anyone on here bashed anyone - you asked for honesty, and that's what you got. I still - truly - don't understand the purpose of this thread.

You agreed with everything the post WAS about, so you dont understand it but re-inforced her views??...so maybe read all of the posts so you do understand because everyone was writing nicely until you said a few times you didnt see the point of this and why bring it up?...WHY would you bring THAT up?
I cant stand when threads get negative, there is NO reason for it at all..

If you dont like a thread , move on, opinions, good and bad I believe are always welcome, but if you simply dont like a thread, why would you post on it??

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

Here's my answer. My SIL and brother spend about 60,000 on their wedding. It was great fun and I truly enjoyed myself. Did I think it was the greatest affair ever? No. The expensive photographer didn't show and sent an assistant so her photos suck. Her band had two replacement members even though it was about 10000. The food was horrible- bland and unexciting. I am throwing my wedding for about 1/2 the money including the rings and honeymoon which I still think is outragous. But I have the money as does my fiance. Do I think my wedding will be half as nice as my brothers? Hell no. And I won't be moaning at the end of night when my gifts don't even cover the bar bill!

I meant...that some of us pointed out that regardless of if the wedding is big or small some chose not to post..and perhaps we should look to the reasons why and ofference any reassurance we can give..we are great at saying what tiara..dress..etc..this is so much mor eimportant.

DOES anyone not realize that some of the weddings we all gave input to have not yet been posted as a review..just think about that...as I cannot go into anymore details without dragging other peoplein and its not my palce to do that. I am not going any further as i tried to be the messenger and I got killed in hte process.

Maybe people choose not to post because they want anonymity. Maybe they choose not to post their review because they just don't want to and they use this site for other purposes, i.e., collect information, but not to share it.

It sounds like you're saying that some people you helped out with info or support didn't post a review and you think they should have. Regardless of your reasons, which I am sure are goodhearted, it seems like you're going to wind up making the people who chose not to post a review feel bad and feel like they have to in order to make others feel better. It's all about us, as individuals, doing what makes us comfortable. It's not up to other people to determine what we do or not. I feel like you're trying to stick up for the underdog, but I don't know who the underdog is.

I'm definitely confused.

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

Please lets just end the thread. There are few people who truely responded to the original post..its distorted by all the negativity that infiltrated it and now subsequent responses have no relevance to which the post was intended so why keep beating our poor dead horse. i dont care if anyone responds or not, that was not my point.. and for the record I have a whole lot of responses so thats not what my thread was about either 'JannShari' . It was simply a question and I never meant to make anyone feel bad. please re-read my posts and show me where I came out with my pitchfork and torch..
ok I promise to back off when I stop getting attacked so why do I even bring up the dead horse lol. I will defend myself..I am a scorpio

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

I have 2 rules

1. - DO NOT compare YOUR wedding, your home, your job, your bank account, your car, etc etc etc to ANYONE else's - there is ALWAYS going to be someone somewhere who has better than you do. -

2. - For as mush as I truly appreciate all of the help and advice all of you have given me, Bottom line is, this website is designed to be used as a tool to help us plan, share horror stories and great experiences. - NOT to revolve your life and your decisions around (NOT that i'm saying anyone does that)
This isn't a forum for placating egos....... If I see a post and I absolute hate the girl's dress, I'm not going to reply saying I love it .......I'm just not going to reply at all - and really WHO CARES??? - Like I said, I greatly appreciate all of the opinions and advice and help eveyone has given, I think this is an awesome tool to help the planning process. - But really, Do I care if someone thinks my dress is ugly ? or if I spent too much on my flowers ? - No, I do what I want b/c I want to -

This isn't supposed to hurt you or make you upset ........It's supposed to be fun. -

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

There was not a single word in my thread that was attacking you. It was me trying to understand yoru original post and what I quoted seemed to be what you were ultimately talking about. I was offering my interpretation and my thoughts on the topic at hand. Just because you think other people are attacking you doesn't mean you need to read every post with that tone. There was nothing negative intended by what I said.

However, when you say, 'i dont care if anyone responds or not, that was not my point.. and for the record I have a whole lot of responses so thats not what my thread was about either 'JannShari,' it seems like you assumed when I said something about the underdog that I was refering to you. I wasn't. I do think, though, that by putting my name in quotes, it came across like you were being snotty - if you were not, then I apologize - it's just like I feel that you're reading something into my post that wasn't there. You cannot start a thread and ask for opinions and then tell people to stop posting when you don't like what you see and when people question your post to try to understand it better.

And frankly, if I see a post to which I would like to respond, whether you've decided that you don't want people responding to it anymore or not, I'll do so.
