Time for LIW brides to be honest

Original post by myasmom

I consider myself to have formed an online realtionship with many of you

With that said....
Is it me or has anyone else noticed that its the weddings that spent $$$$$ that get considered to be the best wedding ever but the ones that did not cost as much $$ or at lesser known places dont get the same raves.

This is not a personal attack or anything...just an observation, not only from myself but from other members who some of us havent even realized are not posting as frequently anymore...

I really htink that its time we all realize that its not the place, the flowers or anything like that that make a wedding beautiful. When u look at the pictures..are the guests smiling or is it just a pretty room...seriously...what do you think makes a wedding beautiful?

P>S I am not trying to start an argument or anything..just curious...I have gotten alot of FMS and just wanted to feel out some of my fellow brides & B2B's!

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

I will be honest and I was very jealous of Bethsiar's wedding review and wedding and others that have unbelievable fairytale weddings. I know everyone will say but your wedding will be just as special blah blah but at the time I was jealous. It was sooo beautiful but very intimidating. I am over it now but at the time I was very depressed that my wedding could never be as great. I think maybe some people feel the same way. I am not sure though I can only speak for myself.

Can I ask a question ? HOW do any of us know what a bride spent ??? - I know I never told anyone..........But then again, I'm not around a whole lot -

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

I know what you're saying about somehow feeling that your wedding will somehow be 'lesser' than some of the weddings where it is quite clear that more money was spent. Does that mean that you won't post a review when you get married? Is that the point of this? That people feel that they won't post because they think people won't care as much?

Because if so...that's what I said and thought it was about. If not...then I'm still confused.

I am also clueless like Jessica Simpson. I don't think anyone here has been especially nasty or negative. I don't understand why the thread should be ended. And I have no idea what the thread was supposed to be about to begin with, nor do I know what it's supposed to be about now!

But I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Re: Time for LIW brides to be honest

IMO, this thread was an attempt to:

-ask why do more expensive weddings get more posts

and then

-imply that those who do respond to the more $$$ weddings are forgetting what weddings are all about

Which I find ridiculous, because

a) I see no correlation between $$$$ weddings and the response they receive on the boards

and

b)we all know what weddings are about, but hey, can't we still appreciate a beautiful bo-k, a pretty haistyle, a creative invtiation?

Should we all hold hands, sing Kumbaya, and give out this gay icon every time someone posts about their wedding? Who can be bothered? Just like in real life, we make choices, we make friends, we have opinions, we move on.

Oct2004bride...

I am not the only person who feels this way...and I asked if anyone else felt this way.

And Jannshari the whole comment was not all directed to you. . but the latter was in general to those who felt I was being negative

And when I am being snotty..people know and that was not one of the times honestly. I am actually one of the calmer heads believe it or not.

And to clarify again: Whatever meant that why should I even try to explain when it would do no good.

I am glad I started this thread not for the public posts but for the private FM's that people sent..those who rather not say in public what they are thinking because they are scared of exactly what happened here.

Its a difference in opinion and thus this is what some of us feel and as shown that is what some other brides feel.. So with that said...Can we just end it so that other brides can plan..and for those who feel I was ORDERING THEM NOT TO POST..it was a request so that the post could simply end..thats all..no hiden mesage anywhere.

I understand that you are not the only one who feels this way but it is petty and you need to get over it..
I am offended by YOUR comments....i'll get over it

i'm so confused right now..so we can't spend a lot of $$$ on our wedding??? what are we supposed to do? we all know weddings on LI are mucho dinero and lord knows that a lot of us cannot afford to spend millions on a wedding. but if me & fh take our time and save our $$ so we can afford to have a nice wedding, is that to be held aganist us? i honestly don't care who on these boards spends what on their wedding and don't appreciate being told what i should be 'honest' about.

See, that's the part that I really don't understand. This is a message board. What is there possibly to be scared of? That people will disagree or have a dissenting opinion? That people will be downright nasty? It happens, yes, but I think the fact that people are really scared to post is more their issue than those they are afraid of. No one can really hurt anyone here...and if someone can really hurt you, then you've given them too much power, you know?

I feel bad that people are afraid of different viewpoints or opinions. It shouldn't be like that, I agree.

Oct2004dride..

I have been offened way more times than you trust me.

I never try to offend anyone and if I did I am sorry.

With that said everyone enjoy your plannig.

I found what I needed here and I thank all of you.

I didnt say half the things that people seem to be insinuating.

Its amazing that its after I have been on here posting 950+ times that so many feel that I am a big ball of negativity and could not give me one minute of the benefit of the doubt.

I agree somewhat....I think people should be able to express their opinions without fearing being flamed BUT....
I do think that there are threads that are best left not written..
this being an example IMO

But then you can't blame the people who respond...only the person who starts the thread (and I'm not saying that this is one of those threads...I happen to think that everyone should say whatever they want, which also means that if I don't like a topic, I get the right to say that, too).
