To Airbrush Tan or not

Original post by MrsHtobe

I'm contemplating getting one of those airbrush tans before my wedding. I'm VERY fair skinned and I'm scared of blending in with my dress LOL. . . .I can't fake bake because all I do is freckle and burn.

Would you look into getting the airbrush tan or just leave it alone? If yes, does anyone have any good recommendations and / or prices? I've never seen pictures from anyone as light as me after they got it done. . .

Thanks!

the sun and tanning beds are PROVEN to cause skin cancer so ill take my chances with chemicals! it is scary though that there are so many prodcuts that use chemicals - chemicals are in the food we eat, soap we wash with, the lotions we put on, our make up, hair products, they are even in the air!

wow thats crazy denise! i never knew that about self tanners..guess there not as safe as we think they are!

yeah i didnt think about it either until someone else had mentioned it but when you think about it, of course its gonna have chemicals...either way anyone who wants a tan is screwed, i convince myself that if i stayed out of the sun completely for 4 years its ok to fake bake for a few months now lol. Its funny bc i was so against it but Fh got me into it lol and then i remembered how i liked how i look with a tan

yea I love the way i look tan! so thats hard..either way..your right your screwed...I hate the way i look when im pasty white, especially in pics! I've been sooo bad though..i spend my whole summer at the beach!

dont feel bad, i faked baked most of the summer lol.

I am going to be doing the spray also. Similar to how FutureMulligan does... Go to a girl's house and she sprays you in your undies LOL. My cousin used her for her wedding & looked great! I am going to try it out a few times b/f to determine what day I should go before the wedding & just to see how it works with my skin & how it looks in pictures. I think she charges around $30 a session... However, it's in NJ...

i understand why you stay away bc of what you went through and family history, plus youre fair skinned so i would definitely think so. Bc i had stayed away for years from the sun i got pale but i have olive skin tone, my whole family is pretty dark actually but thats bc we're mediterranean and obviously im a fake blonde, i went from a dark skinned dark haired girl to a light skinned blonde girl lol. I can take alot of the sun, plus no family history and i do get checked, if i were to see even 1 sign i would stop, i dont even get those brown spots on my back or anywhere that most ppl get.

HOWEVER, i do have very sensitive skin so those things on my face would mess me up and my body, i get allergic reactions to everything even laundry detergent and like you said soap too, i can only use very few types of soap. There are chemicals in everything but also depends on what type of chemicals and if they have been approved by the FDA. again like i said either way is wrong, for me personally alot of products i get an allergic reaction to such as that. Even make up we use alot of it is bad, all these things mess me up and whyi have to now go every 4 weeks to get facials. I also have no sun damage effects on my skin, i also go to a dermatologist so i ask about all this.

I KNOW, that is horrible, especially with tanning beds thats why I limit myself to 2 a year, not every week or day or month. I love the sun but its soo bad, I never think of cancer I only care about how good Im going to look with a tan and how dark I can get

FYI sun damage doesnt happen right away - it can take 20 years for you to develop skin cancer from sun exposure that happened in your teens - its not something that you can see happening - and everyones skin can be damaged by the sun - not just fairskinned people! so be careful!

unfortunately the sun is the one thing that also will age us the most. Thats what made me stop a few years ago when i realized how this one thing will do the most damage. After the wedding i'll stop lol and also go to the derm and theres specific treatments to get rid of sun damage.

def. try it out before hand and see how you like it. I go to glow bar in great neck and i love it. You can't shower for 8 hours after you get sprayed, you'll feel really sticky too (and you kinda smell bad, so rent a movie or something bc ur not gonna want to go out).

When you finally take a shower, the water and ur tub are going to turn disgustingly brown, but when you get out, a lot of the tan washes off and it leaves you with a really nice color. (you're gonna get scared when you see how dark you get before you shower lol)

The only part of it that ***** is when it starts to wear off and you have little streaks like by your elbows and knees, but if you moisturize the hell out of yourself, you should be OK.

Info overload? sorry....but theres a lot to know about it!

i realize that, and like i said i stayed away for a couple of years from the sun. And honestly i know ppl who hardly tanned, were always pale and still somehow developed it. It might be stupid that i think since i avoided the sun for over 4 years these few months will be ok. But i also smoke and theres great risk for that lol, i know the effects but i still do it.

When I was on vaca I would spend ALLLLL day on the beach with 2-4 spf on my body but with 15 spf on my face or a whole month straight. Now that I think of it , thats bad

cigarettes are even worse lol like i just mentioned. this was kinda my point before, and with cigarettes it can take 20 years to reverse the effects it had on you, not that it can take 20 years to develop but even 20 years after someone quits they are still at risk

Where do you go? Do you have someone actually do it or do you go in one of the regular spray booths? I'm going go try it over the weekend and see how I feel about it.

when it comes down to it so many things are bad for us...some ppl are more adamant about 1 thing but then again look at everything else people do.

Re: To Airbrush Tan or not

I say airbrush tanning is the way to go. Have someone do it for your professionally and not the machine that actually sprays you that you stand in. You will have less risk of streaking or an uneven tan and it is the safest way to go! I love the sun, but more and more I am freaking out about how often I use to lay in the sun with baby oil! I have that greek olive skin but now in my early 30s I can see the sun damage that I am going to have to correct! So MPO is to do the spray tan from a professional for your wedding! Def. test it out prior too also! That is my plan.
