To do or not to do photo booth?

To do or not to do photo booth?

Thinking about the possiblitiy of a photo booth. I really like it most for the idea of the scrapbook for the wedding. But I'm concerned that it will keep people away from the dance floor and away from enjoying the wedding. Thoughts and input appreciated!

I dont think it kept anyone away from the dance floor some people arent going to dance all night and it gives them something to do plus the older people loved it

In my opinion:
If they are enjoying the photobooth, they are enjoying the wedding. Some people are not into dancing or maybe they only dance to certain music. Having other entertainment I think is a good thing to give people options. If they love it, they will have had a great time at your wedding- even if they don't dance.

There are a whole bunch of other posts on here about photobooths that mostly support it... I just booked mine and the main reasons include: Entertainment, gets people out of their seats, serves as a guest sign in book and a favor.

Find a special that is running and it will totally be worth it.

i agree with the first 2 posters

i had a photo booth at my wedding and it did not take away from it at all...people loved it, i have a great pics of almost all my guests from the photo booth alone
like the others said there are some people who are not into dancing or some who dont want to dance all night and it really provides entertainment for them

I'm also going to get a photobooth - its a must since FH & I took our 1st pic ever in a photo booth at the mall!
Who did you book with?

I agree with everyone that it won't take away from dancing at all! If it's busy ppl will dance & then go back - its there all night! Plus it's true, some ppl just don't dance so this will be a fun thing for them to do!

Everyone LOVED the photobooth. They would take their pics and get right back to the dance floor. There was never really a line more than a few people...and people used it more than one time. I didn't even notice when people went to go take their pictures honestly because the dance floor was still full. We did a DIY scrapbook that our DOC's helped to manage and it was the best money we could have spent!

It was so fun to look at the scrapbook the next day

The prices range from $850 & up. Maybe you can find cheaper but remember - you get what you pay for. So it really depends on what you want & your budget. If you are planning to use the photobooth pics as your favors than its def more worth it!

I keep telling myself that having one would be distracting from the band and too much going on, etc. But that's just me trying to rationalize not having one since we don't really have the budget for it. haha

I would love to have one and have only heard good things, but we think we'd rather put that money toward the venetian dessert hour instead!

I have been thinking the same thing, but i think the quote i received from my photographer for it was in the range of $1,500.00-$2,000.00 and i just thought that was way to much.. Are you getting a better deal?

I was going to do the cigar roller in place of the photobooth.

Re: To do or not to do photo booth?

I've been to 2 weddings that have had photobooths and they weren't such a hit. It seemed like the same people (mostly kids, but some immature adults as well) kept going in and it discouraged others from going over and trying to get a photo. FH and i tried ourselves, and got off the line after like 5 minutes. I think if you have one, you should speak with the operator and set some rules so everyone who wants a go at it can get in!

Try the modern photobooth. They have 20% off & the cheapest deal is like $875

Check with Fairy Tale Events. They have some great specials. I got the following package for $649, but I am not sure if they are still running the same deal right now or if it was just until the end of 2011. Couldn't hurt to inquire...
Setup/Delivery
On-site Attendant
Unlimited Photos/Prints for a 4 hour reception Web Gallery
Double Prints

Also, I think you have to know your crowd. My guests are mostly people in their late 20s, early 30s and I am also having around 15 kids from my family.

I think with my crowd, especially after a few cocktails , that the photo booth would be a great hit. However, if you are having a lot of older people or if your wedding is very formal it might not be such a hit. Just my opinion...

I booked with NY Facebooth and from what I hear all the photobooths are a hit at wedddings and do not take away from the dancing. Def check out groupon or FB vendors so you can get discounts when they offer promos. If you want NY Facebooth info just FM me. HTH!!

I would love to do a photobooth, but one I can't afford it and two I don't think I can fit it into my room.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your thoughts! Definitely trying to keep costs down right now - trying to prioritize, and I think I want to get transportation to and from the hotel now where I was thinking I wouldn't before - so I think the photobooth is on the back burner for now. I would still love to do it - my mom wasn't too thrilled with the idea either, so that was discouraging.
