To invite co-workers?

To invite co-workers?

FH and I work for the same small company (about 20 people), and we met here at work. We're semi-close to certain people in the office, while we rarely come in contact with others. We're not sure if we should invite the office to our wedding...if we invite some people, I think we should invite everyone. Although there have never technically been rules against inner-office dating here, I think upper management is iffy about it. Everyone knows about us, though.

If you were in my situation or you ARE in one similiar, how do you feel about inviting co-workers? It would defintely add to the cost of the reception.

Re: To invite co-workers?

This is a tough one and it's a decision I've struggled with. As of right now, I am only planning to invite the people I am closest to. I have thought about inviting my whole office (about 20 people) but I honestly can't justify the expense.

ETA: Just wanted to add that I am also inviting my boss. We have a good relationship, but it's not like we're friends. I just thought it was the right thing to do.

We are only inviting our close friends in our offices...

I work in a office of about 10 people, and I am only inviting the 2 close ones... my boss and my asst.

My FH works in a larger office but he is inviting his 5 closest friends.

Just talk to the people who you are closest to and request them not to discuss it in the office.

adding co-workers can quickly get out of control in terms of feeling like you 'have to' invite everyone in the group... i've chosen to just pick a few of my closest work friends to be invited & ask them not to bring it up at work so others don't feel left out. if i had all the money in the world i would invite everyone, but we're paying for our own wedding & keeping the guest list down helps keep costs down! people will understand.

I was in a similar situation, i worked in a company of about 30 and they were with me through my surprise engagement (I didn't know it was coming!) and some of the planning...>I have since recently left and I have invited only hafl of who I was going to invite....I was planning on inviting only those that I genuinely got along with outside of the work atmosphere...if there are certain people youi feel close to invite them...if you have a break room, hang up an invitiation noting that you would love for them to come to the church but to understand that you could not possibly invite everyone though you would have loved to...Just a thought........

I am actually inviting most of my office to my wedding. I am very close with alot of people I work with and FH knows them all as well.
I like these people more then some family members that I have to invite!!!

Re: To invite co-workers?

I am probably not inviting any co-workers. There were people at my past job that I considered friends, but shortly after I left we didn't really talk anymore. At my current job, I have no idea who will still be with the firm come September. But we're also trying to keep our list to people that we're really close to, and think that they will continue to be in our lives for a long time. I have 1 close friend at work and I always joke that I'll call him the day of to let him know if he's invited

I am inviting my close so-workers only. And my boss. Her and I work very closely and I think she's a great boss.

I think it really depends...if you are close to some of the people that you work with those would be the people I would invite. I would definitely not invite everyone-numbers get out of control at that point

Re: To invite co-workers?

We're keeping it to those we hang out with 'out side of work'...and those that we work with REALLY closely. I work for a copany of about 100 people (in office) but FH has about 5000 in office, so we have to keep it down. I'm inviting about 12 work people. He has about 15.

I was torn with this idea as well. I decided to invite the three nurses and MD's I work with. If I started inviting all my assistants and office staff (who I am not that close with) it would have gotten out of control. Not all of my coworkers will come, since someone will have to stay and actually work since my wedding is on a Friday.

Re: To invite co-workers?

I am back and forth...I invited 3 of my closest co-workers, ones I actually get together with out of work from time to time. I have two that I work closely with everyday for 5 years but you'd ask me if I'd call them to get together out of work, I wouldn't...so I'm debating on those two.

For your situation, I would invite just those who you are close with..meaning..who would you see yourself being friends/friendly with in 5 years?? Are you going to look back at your wedding video and pics and say...who's that?

Hope this helps!
