To Jennifer A. - re: Donations&Bells

We are planning to have little cards made up regarding the donation we intend to make. The cards will be attatched to the bells with personalized ribbons, along with the little cards that come with the bells. We do not expect our guests to take these bells home and find an everyday use for them, and are aware that they will probably become dust collectors or shoved in drawers, but these bells are more for using at the reception. Instead of clinking on glasses, the guests will have the bells to use instead. Our favor is the donation, the bells are just a little something to dress up each place setting and donation note. Plus, our wedding theme has slowly been leaning toward bells anyway. As for donations, the first step would be deciding on what kind of organization you would want to give money to. We`re going to sponsor an unlucky animal. We`ll get a photo back from the organization, and each of our guests will receive a wall-sized photo, with the explanation on the back. Since we need to get the photo from the organization, we will send the money in honor of our guests about 6 weeks prior to the wedding. Figure how much you would have allowed yourself for favors, or whatever you`re comfortable with, and set that as your donation. Several others on this site are doing donations. I`m not sure if this is the 'standard' procedure of making a donation instead of favors, but this is what we`re doing.

Thanks so much! Actually, I have picked charities (American Heart Assoc. and American Diabetes Assoc.) in memory of my grandfathers and will make the donation in my guets names. I like the bell idea to dress up the donation card!

Jennifer - We're also donating to the AHA and ADF in memory of both of our fathers. We're making scrolls on parchment paper and tying them w/ a matching ribbon. Not doing bells since there will be about 20 kids at our wedding and that ringing will definitely get out of hand.
