Re: to liven up the boards
For my 15th birthday I got black velvet overalls with a pink satin shirt attached from my aunt. I almost died. If I was 6 or 8 it would have been adorable, but 15!!!!! Thank god I was able to return it because I never would have been able to show my face again at school if I was forced to wear that.

Re: to liven up the boards
I haven't had any horrible jaw dropping gifts, but I absolutely hate when I get re-gifts and it is so obvious that they are re-gifts. Don't bother getting me anything at all....
LOL I do have a funny story about my brother's ex-girlfriend. Last year my brother brought his then girlfriend over my aunt's house for Christmas Eve and my aunt didn't know his girlfriend was coming over. So she wrapped up this little plush cat toy and gave it to her as a gift

Re: to liven up the boards
When I was like 7 I was in love with reggae music for a hot minute.
So...the wonderful human being my uncle is, chose to remember that ONE fact about me my whole life, and bought me a reggae compilation for chanukah when I was like 13. REALLY??? C'mon now...at least fake like you know something about me and call my parents to see what I'd like...
The worst I've ever heard was not a gift to me, but my parents....my dad's mother gave them shoe trees for chanukah. She was a really piece of work

I've played cello since I was 7 or 8 years-old. Needless to say, I've received at least 20 Yo-Yo Ma CDs even though I have never said I am a fan. Almost all of them are from my uncle, who has a terrible memory.

The worst gift wasn't for me - but for my 2 year old neice. When she was born, one of her uncle's came to town and must have forgotten to get a gift, so he wrapped up a box of knives. They were really nice ones, but really? A box of knives as a baby present???

Re: to liven up the boards
My old boss was really cheap. One christmas, she gave everyone tea cups and saucers. But separately. I got one saucer, and another girl got the cup to go with it, etc. We were like what? What do you do with a saucer? and they were ugly to boot. I gave my saucer to the girl who had the cup.

My Pop's client gave me a brown paper bag filled with plastic baby hairclips, some scrunchies and a neon pink Brucci lipstick, and a pair of eyeglasses. For our e-party. The glasses were hers that she came back for later.

I got a training bra from my great Aunt Dolly when I was about 9 years old. Imagine opening that on Christmas morning in front of your whole family, at that age!!!!

FFIL gave FH's uncle a gold toothpick for his birthday a couple of years ago. FH and I thought it was the dumbest gift ever, but the uncle LOVES it and carries it with him all the time!
