Are you guys doing a receiving line at your church?
Ideally at what point do u think we need to go around and visit our guests at the hall
I want to maximize my party time.

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
yes I am doing a receiving line in hopes that maybe I can minimize greeting time at the reception, but mom feels I still have to go around to everyone and thank them for coming, which is totally fine except I want to do it in the earlier part of the evening so I can relax and chill a bit

I will also. Plus I have a ton of time to kill before the reception.

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
We are just going to do it after the ceremony at the church... as for the reception....while I should...we are not going to ....we want to enjoy the reception..its already going to go by too quick.. FBIL did the same thing, recieving line at church and no table visits during the reception..and no one said anything... I think nowadays people understand this and don't mind....JMO

brides who are doing this and pressed for time....
@ my BF's wedding her DOC only had the , parents and MOH and BM in the line... this help speed up the line and also gave us(BP) time to freshen up b4 the RH and pics.

I think our families will feel insulted. Usually this is the time we go collect $$$. Sorry to say it like that.. but it's the truth.

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
Oh...like they would be insulted if you didn't go around the reception...I could see that.
In Peter's family though...the Grandma goes around with the money bag....(that whole thing is new to me...we don't reallydo that in New Mexico..just have an envelope box) So at FBIL's wedding grandma went around with the bag....
Do you think we should be the ones doing it?
agghh...there is soo much I need to figure out

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
we are going to do a receiving line at the church and try to talk to everyone during the CH (1.5 hours) so that way we can enjoy the reception...i dont want to walk around to 25 tables during the reception bc i think i will miss too much of the party then...

I was planning on doing the receiving line too... I thought it was only the bride/groom, and both parents... I've always seen the bridal party on like the other side, but never really seen people going over to them... what would you say to the bridal party if you don't really know the people in it?

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
yes we're doing a receiving line...if we were going to our CH then that's where we would say our hello's but we're going to be taking pictures and spending some alone time during CH..but that would probably be the best way to get the most party time you possibly could.

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
Not Sure. I guess it depends on the weather. I dont want the other guests to be stuck outside if its cold. My church does not have much of an area to do this. I plan on attending my cocktail hour so I can see the guests there.

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
i have honestly never thought about yet a friend of mine said that at her reception she did a toast thanking everyone for being there, it was her alternative I like that, its simple and conveys what you want to say to everyone I also plan on being at my CH so i will be doing some then, but it really deends on how you want to do it

Re: To Receive or NOT To Receive....
yes I will be doing one too. I know it is very time consuming, but since I will be so busy for the rest of the day, that will be a good time to say hello to everyone.
