To tell or not to tell

Hi.

I want to run something by you ladies.

I just randomly met a bride to be the other day, though we are not friends yet, we did promise to keep in touch to give each other moral support during our planning. Here is theproblem. This person is having her reception at a place which has not enjoyed a great reputation for the past few years. I do not want to name the place, but it is here in LI. It is a seemimgly beautiful place which advertises low prices. It has gotten bashed alot on this site. My question is do I tell her that she should be concerned, or do I just keep my mouth shut.

Who knows this place could have improved?

Thoughts!!!!!!

Re: To tell or not to tell

Unless you know something first hand or specific I wouldn't tell. If she already booked it it will only upset her.

Re: To tell or not to tell

Unless she asks you your opinion, its best to keep it to yourself. Don't lie about how great her site is - just say nothing one way or the other.

Re: To tell or not to tell

hmmmmm.... is she already booked?? I don't know if I'd tell her, but I'd make some comments to her as to what to keep her eye out for Without putting down her hall. You DO NOT want to hurt her feelings.

Re: To tell or not to tell

Why don't you recommend she come here? She can do her own research and read (or not read) whatever she wants.

Has she already booked the reception site? If so, I wouldn't tell. No need to upset her with information that is second or third hand.

I've heard good and bad reviews, comments on just about every reception hall on Long Island!

Re: To tell or not to tell

Yes, she has booked her hall.

She is happy with it. I may just tell her to come on this site.

Re: To tell or not to tell

That is a tough one!! I would also recommend telling her to come to LIweddings and look around for herself.
My boss just on Friday heard me talking about my reception hall and made a very negative comment. I wasn't happy, but I know that I made the right choice in picking my hall and I have asked around and been open to all kinds of feedback. At this point I couldn't change my hall, so I hope that the comment my boss made won't affect me.

Re: To tell or not to tell

I agree with everyone else - telling her second or third hand information isn't going to help matters any. If she already booked the hall, this site may help her with the little things that she may need to address. There's probably no hall out there that 100% of the people like. In fact - there's probably no vendor in general with a 100% approval rating.

Re: To tell or not to tell

Since she already booked her hall, telling her you heard not such great things about it would only upset her when there's not much she can do about it. I agree with everyone else saying you should direct her to this site so she can get information and be prepared with issues and points to bring up as her wedding gets closer.

Re: To tell or not to tell

Unless you are VERY good friends you should not say a word. You will just embarrass her. Perhaps she needed to stay within a budget or she might really love this place. Just be happy for her and support her decisions.
