Today is a day I will never forget...look at my last post...
So today marks the 9th anniversary of my best friend's passing. He was 17. He hung himself. He was everything to me and loosing him was probably the worst thing that has ever happened to me. For a long time I couldn't get past it. I couldn't move on. I would spend every anniversary and every birthday of his at his grave side. For the past couple of years I have not gone. I feel guilty about that, but I live in Maryland now and I know I can mourn and remember without being at the cemetery.
So today I feel odd. I am in a good mood. I am not super down or crying. I remember what happened. I remember what he was to me. I remember the joy he brought me and the love I felt for him. I miss him terribly, but I don't feel like I need to sit here in a puddle of my tears all day. Perhaps I am growing up and moving past it. Anyways, I just wanted to share what today is for me. Thanks for reading!

you just gave me chills for when I was 14 my best friend shot herself....omg...it never gets easier to deal with and i am 31! Now my thought of her dwindle down to the fact that she would have been a bridesmaid..i think about her all the time... I feel your pain Jess...

I am beyond sorry that you went through this tragedy, and am happy for you that you seem to have made some sort of peace with it (as much as possible, at least.)
My deepest sympathies and condolences for you, your friend, and his family on this bitter day.

Thanks girls! I am doing OK today. Not as bad as previous years. The pain never goes away, but it does subside with each passing year. I promise to always remember him and what he was to me. I was 16 when he died. It was extremely difficult to handle especially at that age and especially the way he passed. But anyways, thank you for your support! Much love!

Gosh. . so sorry you had to experience that and will continue to. . and you should never feel guilty for feeling like you are not mourning in the 'right way' or enough. It is clear that you were a good friend and were so touched by him. . and though the quality of the intensity of losing him might change.. it will never diminish what you were able to give to each other (and still do in some way)

thank you, its actually an anniversary of a car accident that my triplet sister was in. thankfully she survived but needed open heart surgery and to this day it affects her. you always try to be happy that she is here, but when you thikn about the emotions you went through, and the thoughts you had that day of losing them its tough to relive that.
