Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers....it means a lot to me.
My brother has been released and is home with me right now. He lives alone and we do not want him to be home alone for the next few weeks, so he is staying with me today and my dad is coming from upstate (mom is here, dad had to go back to take care of the dog) to pick my mom and my brother up and take them up there where my brother will stay for the next 3-4weeks so he can recover and get away from it all.
He is VERY weak and VERY tired and VERY scared.....the doctors told us that the odds of him SURVIVING the heart attack that he had was 5%.

So my brother really is LUCKY.
The shock of what has happened has worn off a little, but it does come back in waves and I break down crying. I can't imagine this world without my little brother in it. We are only 2 yrs apart and were always so close growing up...we share a special bond that many people don't understand....
The cause of the heart attack was never pinpointed, exactly. But, he was sick with bronchitis, had a high fever for over a week and did not rest or take care of himself. He has a stressful job and didnt even take off from work to rest. He also went out with friends and generally disregarded all the signs that he needed rest....plus the 5 different meds he was on....the doctors said it was stress on his body or a blood clot or both....
Although it is rare for someone of his age to have a heart attack, its not impossible....
The worst part is, he was sick, and didnt tell anyone. The day he had his heart attack he told his friend he was going to the drug store and then never came back. Instead of calling me or my mom or anyone for help, he DROVE HIMSELF to the emergency room! He could have died in the parking lot!
Anyways, there was no permanent damage done to his heart, and as long as he takes it easy, eats right, and excersises, he will live to be 100!
If you all have family members who think they are 'invinsible' THEY ARENT....keep an eye out for them...CALL THEM if they dont call you for a few days...you arent being paranoid! If I didnt call my brother for the 4 days leading to this, I wouldnt have gotten worried about him not calling me back, I wouldnt have called my mom to ask if she heard from him...and she wouldnt have gotten mad at him for not calling...and called him 5 times in a row until he picked up and told her he was in the ER having a heart attack.
There really is a such thing as woman's intuition....
Thanks again to all of you who were concerned. It was comforting knowing that there were so many people out there praying for my brother.
Love and hugs,
Denise
