Too early for dress?

I don't think so. I ordered my dress already and my wedding isn't until next September. If you love it, why should you look any further? There are so many other details to attend to for a wedding already, that having one less thing to worry about is like heaven. Well, maybe not heaven but you know what I mean. :)

Too early for dress?

Just make sure you`re confident in your decision. You wouldn`t want to come across another dress later on and then start having second thoughts - although I guess that can always happen! Advice people have told me is to go to A LOT of stores, and try on different types of dresses, before you make a decision.

Too early for dress?

If you love it, go for it! I made the mistake of looking further and now I can't decide (see below post ;-) ) Also, now I feel like i'm rushing. I've been engaged since January and am getting married in May. May seemed like a lifetime away, and now I feel like it's right around the corner (I know it's not, but the school year starts next month and it will fly!) Good luck & let us know what you decided!

Too early for dress?

Someplaces you need 9 months for the dress to come in. I ordered mine 13 months ahead of the wedding. Last August I ordered it, it came in in May, and my wedding is September. So find out how long it takes for the dress to come in.

Too early for dress?

If you have tried others on and you love this one and know this is it,then go for it. I am not getting married until next November I went to only two stores and when I put my dress on I couldn't stop smiling! I orderd it the next day! Good luck!

DRESS?

I was engaged xmas 98., booked the reception hall 1/99, found the dress 3/00, ordered it and got it end of april. Got married 7/01. SO- I am a BIG proponent for getting things done early! but make sure that this is the one- which takes some discipline. ALSO_ do NOT tell the dress store your actual wedding date. Fudge it ahead a few months- this way 1)you dont have to wait SOOOO long for the dress and 2)you wont have to WORRY when you are close to your date and you dont have the dress YET! Good luck!

Too early for dress?

I don't think it's too early. I didn't plan it this way, but I ordered my dress exactly one year before to the date of my wedding. They said 4-6 months and it hasn't come in yet. But I knew it was what I wanted, and I haven't had a second thought yet.

Too early for dress? Another Perspective - Long

Ok here is the negative view and it has nothing to do with finding The Gown, it's purely rational economics. We all know the bridal industry is full of give me your money (large deposit) and let me hold it for a year or two vendors. Most likely the gown you are putting a deposit on today will not be ordered until 6 months before your wedding. The salon is holding your deposit and earning interest on it until that time. Unless the gown is discontinued you will still be able to order it in 6 months. The vast majority of gowns take 12 weeks to come in. You can call the manufacturer directly and ask how long that style takes and if there are any plans to discontinue it. Then ask your self this simple question where should your money be in your pocket (bank) or theirs? This holds true for other vendors like limos and florists that can handle multiple events on the same date. Just a Thought

Too early for dress?

I ordered mine 11 months before. I am happy that it is out of the way. I have no desire to look at other dresses now, because I love mine so much. Also I know that they dress on the mannequin or model never looks the same on me. So, I keep that in the back of my mind when I see a nice style. I put my wedding date 10 days early (left off the 1).

Another perspective

I would wait. Like Fran suggested, research a little to make sure it's not discountinued. It's ture that they don't order the dress right away, and shops will try to get a deposit from you right away. I odered my dress seven months before my wedding and it came in four months before my wedding date. In hindsight, I could have waited another month or two. For no other reason that to keep my money in the bank a little longer

Thanks for all the advice.

I think I will try on a few more just to be 100% sure. If it is truly the one for me then I will still love it after I try on a few more.

YES! WAIT!!!!!

I had my eye on this one dress for over two years. I put $1000 down on it one year ahead of time and I just found another dress that I LOVE. Now I have to fight for my deposit...it is now 10 months before my wedding. Wait until the very last min, you never know!
