Yeah, I guess I have to throw my hat into the anxiety ring, lol.
I was going to post about my frustration lately with trying to get off Zoloft, but was like 'Nawh, that's probably too much info and all the nice girls will just think the newb is crazy.'
I've been off of Zoloft for two weeks now, and just decided that I'm going back on. I had these CRAZY discontiunation symptoms---has anyone had anything like a brain shiver?! It's the worst feeling in the world...and when they finally started going away (after a week and a half) my anxiety has come back to kick my ***. For me, it feels like a very very heavy elephant is sitting on my chest. Really makes it hard to have enthusiasm about anything.
I'm so glad that I'm not the only bride whose 'imperfect!'
i went off my meds for awhile.. zoloft worked wonders for me at first.. but then it kind of balanced out and now i'm on lexapro. One day i opened my pills and left them on the edge of the sink while i took them.. well that was stupid cause FH came down and scared the crap out of me and knocked them all out into the sink.. only 2 were salvageable. My doctor was on vacation for 1.5 weeks and i freaked out cause no one else would give them to me without knowing my history..etc. etc. My anxiety got pretty bad again after a week.. i was so relieved when i got my meds again.. (crazy pill popper that i am...lol).. but it took another week to start really working again.. and i'm still having some problems.. argg. it's so frustrating!!! It really is a horrible feeling!
I think it's so funny how different meds work for different people--for me, Lexapro was so bad! I got dry mouth which doesn't SOUND so bad but oh man, it drove me nuts, lol! I really wanted to get off the Zoloft because I don't like the idea of having to rely on something chemical, but I guess I still need it.
i felt the same way! i hated the idea of having to be on meds.. i've been dealing with this since i was like 14.. 10 years is a long time to be on and off meds. But anytime i stop.. it just comes back to kick me in the a$$. Maybe someday they will find something better for us!! (wishful thinking)
alot of people go off meds when they're feeling better but it simply means the meds are working, and yeah then people get off it and the cycle starts again. Don't feel bad about being on meds for so long, there are people who will have to be on meds for the rest of their life.
Yeah, but the meds are supposed to help teach your brain how to produce the chemicals on its own. Guess I'm not there yet!
depends on what you have...Alot of people have anxiety and go on antidepressants or go to a therapist that just prescribes them whatever. Some people don't really go to find out what they really do have. Anxiety can mean you have something else. My Fh has anxiety but thats not all he has, its just a sympton of something he has. He has been on meds for 15 years and will be for the rest of his life and thats just it. But he never goes off his meds, in 15 years he never stopped. No doctor ever told him that eventually he will stop having to take it bc his brian will know how to produce chemicals on its own.

ok i HAVE to go to bed now but this weekend was the perfect weekend to read this post. . .
seriously, i canceled on a good friend this weekend bc of anxiety issues. . . i had a full blown panic attack in front of niece a few weeks ago, and she is only 8 and i probably traumatized her for life. . .
anyway, i just wanted you girls to know you are NOT alone. . . a few weeks ago i just asked for girls to FM me if they could help me with anxiety and over 40 different girls FMed me!! Some even came out of lurking and only had one or two posts! it was amazing. . .
i decided this weekend that i need to start taking charge of this so tomorrow i am going to start by making an appt with my regular doctor and seeing if she can help me before going to a therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist etc.

Well, I don't want to start a disagreement, but I've been on meds and in therapy for 5+ years for depression and anxiety and I was told by a handful of doctors that the SSRI's would hopefully quickstart my brain's production of the chemicals naturally.

GO TO YOUR DR.
This used to happen to me all the time, and i thought it was normal. However, i also faint kinda often.
I have vasovagal syncope which is a form of fainting that relates to blood pressure. it isnt super serious so don't get scared or anything.... but definitely get it checked out because those are the major 'warning signs'

I don't know where you are located, but if any girls in Suffolk would like the name of a therapist who has really helped me out tremendously with my anxiety, feel free to FM me!

lol no arguement...i just said depends on what you have, my fh has more than just anxiety, its a bit more serious than that. So i am not saying that it wont work for you, just saying for some people it won't, for example my FH. Again, ive read many things on his condition and everyone who suffers from the same thing always say they have to live with the fact that they have to be on meds for the rest of their life. FH has been on meds and in theraphy for 15 years. What you have is completely different so I can't comment on that. I said that it depends on what you have, if its just anxiety and occasional depression then I can see that being true. More severe cases like my FH unfortunately it is not, i really hope in the future there will be.

Aww- have you sought treatment at all.
When I went to my first GTG. It didnt hit me until I turned the corner to walk into the place, but I got dizzy and started having an attack. But then I went in and was fine, of course. But I dont have a diagnosed social anxiety disorder.

Oh no! That makes me sad. Not even a small one? I don't have social anxiety so I don't really know what it entails. I thrive on social situations b/c I get lonely and depressed very easily when I'm alone!

Have you gone to a therapist about this? I have seen miracles that some therapists can do, trust me I am in still in shock now but definitely not complaining.
