I have been to a party at NHP and a wedding at JT and it all depends on what you are looking for. If your wedding is more intimate I would go with NHP but if you are having a large wedding go with JT.

Ive been to both! Im from NHP and my parents live across the street from the Inn at NHP! that place has made some pretty amazing changes!!! my parents said the one room makes you feel like you are in Italy!!!
I was at the Jerricho Terrace last weekend! That is a hard decision! both are really nice!

Re: Torn between 2 RH
I've been to a wedding at JT. It was a Sunday wedding and there was no alcohol! That's really all I can remember about it!!! That's just devistating for me!
Anywho.... personally I would pick the Inn at New Hyde Park becuase it's less known. I feel that JT is sooo popular the chances of your guests having been there recently are pretty high. I like doing things differently from everyone else! But that's just me!
However, if you are thinking about costs... I think I've heard the Inn is pricey! Unless I'm confusing it with another place.
Are you dead set on those 2 places? Where else have you lookeD?
Edit to add that... I can't believe 2011 is booking up already!! GOOD FOR YOU DOING IT AHEAD OF TIME!!! That's how we did it and didn't have not one problem with our dates or anything being booked already!!

I would pick the Inn at NHP. They just re-did and its gorgeous, the food is amazing. My cousin is getting married there later this year and has nothing but the best of things to say about them.

Re: Torn between 2 RH
I was torn between 2 also.
I sat down and made a list of pros & cons for each place, and made a list of what was included, extra options, price, etc.
In the end, we ultimately went with the place we could visualize ourselves getting married in. It's a tough choice, but you'll figure it out. GL!

I cant say enough fabulous things abuot JT. Every one I know that has been to a wedding there only has good things to say. The food is delicious and the staff is very helpful. JT is very accomodating and willing to work with you on so much. Its a gorgeous hall with a great reputation.

hey Jo!
We are doing the Inn - we love it and everything that we have done with them so far (food tasting, bridal showcases, etc) have been fantastic!!
My sister did JT and her's was great too!
What I love about the Inn is that you are the only wedding and everything is so personal. They even have a Bed & Breakfast for the bride and groom for the wedding night, that is right on sight.
Good Luck!! Let us know what you pick!

Re: Torn between 2 RH
I've been to a wedding at NHP waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy back in the day...like 92 and I was 7 years old LOL. So I don't know if you should take anything I say in to consideration...all I remember was that it was before the renevation, I think it was in a downstairs room, and the flower girls were running around screaming and sliding on their bellies on the dance floor, who were my age at the time, and I remember at 7 years old looking at them with disdain. That's all I can remember!
But I do know if we lived in Nassau or were willing to have the reception a little farther, we would have considered JT for sure, since I call it the Villa of Nassau.

Oh I didn't know you were the only wedding at the Inn! If that's the case I say DEFINATELY go with the INN!! You might not see it now... but it's soooooooooooo awesome to be the only wedding at the venue you book! There are sooo many factors that come up and it's just such a relief to be the only wedding there. TRUST ME!! I've heard of girls having problems with vendors not being able to come in at certain times to set up due to other weddings going on in the room or around the room and thus they had to forgo things they really wanted. Just something to think about.

What 's ucked' about the food exactly? I am getting married there and what you said was a bit rude IMO. I would love to know what was terrible so that I can keep that off the menu. Im sure you've had to have something that you liked... I heard their cocktail hour is off the hook... the sit down dinner I've heard mixed reviews about the food not being so hot when it comes out.

Re: Torn between 2 RH
I didn't price JT (but I've been there for an affair) and I did look at the Inn (but haven't been to an actual affair)- but from what I understand the prices really are not comparable.
I had a good experience at JT. The party was in the room where the ceiling was all painted w/ angels etc and it was gorgeous. I don't remember the food EXACTLY but I def didn't have any complaints.

I go with the Inn at NHP. I have been to both and the Inn is AMAZING. More intimate and just amazing service and quality dining.
JT is gorgeous as well but there are usually many weddings going on at the same time.
Good luck!
