trash the dress or engagement shoot?

with our photographer we can do either... we were going to do an engagement shoot but at this point we have been engaged for a year already... i feel like time is going to fly by and I don't even know if it's worth it to do it... besides if we do a trash the dress it gives me an excuse to wear my beautiful gown again!!!!

What do you think?

My fiance and I compromised. He wanted engagement pics as a heads up, and idea as to what the actual day would be like. I don't feel that I need them because I tend to be much more comfortable in front of the camera.

I've always loved the idea of 'trash the dress,' but I don't think you need to truly 'trash' your dress. I see it as a fun photo op to go out, be uninhibited ( no wedding day nerves!) and have a great time. I have no plans to destroy my dress- I just want some good time pics.

I will be putting money towards the 'trash the dress pics,' and my fiance towards the 'engagment pics.'

Plus, you can just wash the dress after a TTD session.

ITA, I'm doing this to both of my dresses. Then off to the cleaners.

This is so hard! I def don't want to 'trash' the dress, I just want to take fun pics in the dress that we won't get on our day... but an e shoot sounds like so much fun too!!!!!!!

can't you pad in some time at your wedding to take those 'fun' pictures???

yes but our pictures will be limited since we are having a winter wedding... I would love to take some pictures in the spring and outside, or even in the fall.. we will take 'fun' pictures but won't have as much time since we will be on a schedule the day of the wedding.

I would do engagement. We did ours after having been engaged for 6 years. We LOVED it.

It was great for us because it gave us a chance to spend an afternoon with our photogrpaher, getting to know him and vice versa. We'll be super comfy on the wedding day.

We also just had SO much fun and it was seriosuly the most fun thing we've done since getting engaged. We just enjoyed that time together away from the other stress of planning.

We used the pics in our STDs but you can also use them for table #;s, on the tables in the lobby, wedding website, etc etc. I think it'll be fun to look back on those casual shots. You'll have a whole album of pics in your gown.

I'd say go for the e-pics!
