ive been dealing with acne forever now. i have the most sensitive skin ever! i dont get breakouts anymore, but one tiny pimple can ruin my face for months (when it first comes out, dies down and then the redness it leaves behind which take so long to go away). ive done so much with it and its much better than before and now with laser hair removal its gotten better and i never wear makeup on my face anymore BUT
during my engagement party im going to need something really nice that wont break me out. im looking for natural coverage that will not melt off OR MOST IMPORTANTLY rub off on my guests when i go to hug or kiss them and leave stains on their outfits (HOW EMBARASSING!!).
Anyone know of any brands or tips on application?
im not sure if im going to hire someone for that, but want to have the option to do it myself. thanks! xoxo

I know it sounds like a commercial but ProActiv is the only thing that worked for me.

Re: Troubled skin---> MAKEUP
oh ive tried that and everything under sun, lasers, peels. i refuse to use accutane. but my face got so much better after i changed my diet did a few cleanses (herbdoc.com)
and right now, its not so much the acne, its the red skin and spots i need to deal with that take SOOO long to go away. i touch my skin and it turns red, its crazy. so i def need something for my engagement party, something thats not going to break me out but cover me and not melt off or rub off.

There are a lot of mineral make ups on the market right now that are great for sensitive skin. I think even CG or Revlon are making them

Re: Troubled skin---> MAKEUP
I've used mineral makeup for a few years now. My first purchase was Bare Minerals, but now you can find it at most drug stores. I found it very good to work with. The concealer is great it really covers up just the problem spots w/o having to put it on your entire face. The foundation you can put on in a few light layers that blend smoothly. I've been able to put it on a bit heavier in one spot compared to another spot on my face. It never looks cakey or heavy, sometimes at the end of the day I forget its even on my skin but when I use a cleansing pad you can see a whole lot come off! Since its all natural it doesn't clog the pores or cause breakouts. I'd give it a try! Good luck!

Physicians Formula is a good brand of makeup. But if your skin is that sensitive maybe you should check with your dermotologist first. They may be able to recommend something that won't cause breakouts or irritate your skin.

Re: Troubled skin---> MAKEUP
couldn't help but read ur post 'cause i've dealt with so many annoying skin issues over the years... I actually work for Bare Escentuals (Bare Mineral products...the original, patented 100%mineral line). this makeup is unbelievable and you'd honestly see improvements on ur skin just by using their makeup alone...and QUICK....it's all natural ingredients(and only 5...which are zinc, iron, titanium dioxide, bismuth, and mica). I know they have brands out now saying they're mineral lines, but alot of the other lines DO have additives, and the ones that don't are still different because like i said - Bare is patented(plus it's the FOUNDER of mineral makeup!). They also have 100% natural skincare products now for acne prone skin...and from personal experience - IT'S AMAZING. the best part is there is NO chemicals or additives to fix the issues...no stripping of the skin...it's honestly just a miracle worker. You can try out proactive because i do know people have good experiences with it....but there are also a lot of people who've had aweful experiences & the products actually made them breakout more..so just be careful! i started working for Bare because i became so passionate about the results i had from using their stuff....customer turned employee I'd reccomend getting their makeup, and also the Rare Minerals Skin Revival Treatment...this has Natural antiseptics & antibacterial factors that boot out any impurities in the skin and keeps them out...also closes the pores by up to 60%!!! so not only are u clearing up ur skin & keeping it clear, but ur also downsizing pore size. There's also natural factors that help majorly lighten/reduce scarring, and calming factors that get rid of redness. plus it's literally the EASIEST thing to to in the world. The product actually did so well that they now have a cleanser, and also a brand new on spot blemish treatment made with Sulfur & Teetree oil...natural cures for acne. I hope this information is helping! lol i know i'm writing alot! ANYWAYS, I dont know where u live but I work at the Boutique in the Queens Center mall....FM me if u want to stop by & i'll let u know my scheduel...i'll totally help u out if u're out on the island, a girl from my boutique just got the position of Boutique Manager of the store in Roosevelt field....Her name is Jamille. make sure if u go there u ask for her(she's amazing) and tell her I recommended you (i'm taryn by the way lol) so now i'm writing u a novel, but this stuff will really help you! it works, AND IT'S NATURAL!! so no irritating side effects, and no annoying maitenance. if u have ANY other questions please feel free to FM me! i hope everything works out for u!

Re: Troubled skin---> MAKEUP
I have had the same problem for years. My breakouts have stopped thank goodness, but I still have tons of red scarring from them. I am not lucky enough to not wear makeup everyday - I have to wear makeup, but what I use is from Clinique. It is called Perfectly Real Compact Makeup. It is oil-free, fragrance free, hypo allergenic. I have sensitive skin as well and can only use Purpose to wash my face. I even have to use the laundry detergent for sensitive skin and I am able to wear this makeup. It is just a powder that covers as well as liquid makeup. It is great. I wear it everyday. I had a trial with airbrush makeup and I am considering using the Clinique instead because I think it covered my scars better. Its worth a try!

It's one night. Listen, either you'll break out or you won't...I've tried some of these mineral ones mentioned and I think that in general it isnt healthy to put crap on your face! I only wear foundation for special events...Its not worth the damage it does to your skin, especially if your skin looks good without it!! So get your makeup done, and when you come home, wash it off! MAC makeup artists are phenomenal! Depending on the location, you either get a free application or you have to purchase about 50$ of makeup.

I have the same problem -after years and years of having cystic acne and not being able to get rid of it, I went to the dermo and they gave me an oral antibiotic which works from the inside out..I also spend about $150 - $200 a month on prescription face washes and cleansing pads. I also do microdermabrasion which has lessed the scars drastically although it tend to get a bit pricy ($175 a session) And I've also entered into the work of Bare Minerals I have been using it fora couple years now and I pray they never discountiue it because it's the only thing that has made by skin better then worse!
Any questions please FM me! - give bare minerals a shot you will love it.

i was more talking about getting the mineral makeup for the long term benefits...and to take the worry out of breaking out that night because, well, you wont! lol. Honestly, it's called 'makeup' but it's not. looks like 'powder' but it's not. there's no talc(which is found in other powder makeup), no additives, no abbrasives, no NOTHING...even the actual color thats in it comes from iron oxide rather than dyes. it's actually good and yes HEALTHY to put on ur skin. it actually rejuvenates it. To be honest, i'm a makeup artist, and while yes MAC products are amazing(HUGE fan of their eye shadows..and i do use their makeup on those who can wear it, and for specific events), DO NOT get a mac makeover if u're worried about breaking out...even the artists there will tell you that. Their products are fully loaded with emolient (like most makeup is..but theirs especially because it's made very heavy) which is what clogs the pores. hope all this info is helping!

Re: Troubled skin---> MAKEUP
ps: i also know of an amazing AMAZING dermotologist in Queens. Let me know if u want his info. also, the pricing in most Bare Minerals Boutiques for a 'makeunder'(what they call a makeover) is the purchase of 3 products, or $60...whichever comes first.

Re: Troubled skin---> MAKEUP
I struggle with adult acne and scarring and completely understand what you are going through.
For special occasions, I only use Jane Iredale Cosmetics, a mineral makeup created for plastic surgeons and dermatologists. Jane Iredale is extremely long lasting, ultra lightweight, provides great coverage and is available in liquid, loose and pressed powder forms. Jane Iredale products are expensive, but, completely worth it anytime your picture will be taken or are going out.
For every day, I use Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals, along with Rare Minerals blemish treatment as concealer. Bare Minerals provides good coverage and is lightweight, but the foundations and concealers are only available in loose powder form and require multiple layers to achieve full coverage. Bare Minerals is inexpensive and great for daily use.
For occasions, I prefer full coverage with minimal product use and Jane Iredale products are much more heavily pigmented than Bare Minerals, requiring less product to achieve the same coverage. Also, when applying multiple layers of Bare Minerals, the product may slip or transfer onto clothing and Jane Iredale Cosmetics will stay in place until washed off.
As for skincare, I have tried EVERYTHING, both OTC and prescription, and MD Formulations (sold at Bare Escentuals) is far superior to anything I have ever used. Within two weeks, both my facialist and dermatologist commented how it transformed my skin- quickly and without irritation. My makeup artist also said she could not beleive how these products smoothed and evened out my skin.
If you would like to see them or need an amazing makeup artist, let me know… After all of my skin issues, my professional pictures did not need to be retouched and my makeup lasted the entire day without any touchups!
If you have any other questions or need additional information, please FM me.

Re: Troubled skin---> MAKEUP
I'm glad HamptonPrincess mentioned Jane Iredale. I've suffered with acne for way too long and used to use layers of liquid foundation to cover it up until I found Jane Iredale. What a difference! A little concealer on the red spots followed by Jane Iredale powder/foundation, and I'm ready for anything. Plus, no worries about the makeup causing me to break out, and it has an SPF of 15.
For concealer, I like Maquicomplet by Lancome and Maximum Coverage by Estee Lauder. Both are highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way, and both provide incredible coverage.
Oh, and for preventing those last minute break-outs: I saw a dermatologist last year who told me that he gives brides a short course of low dose prednisone, an oral steroid, 3 days before their weddings. I took this short course following a dermatological surgery, and not only did it clear up my acne, it kept it away for months afterward. FM me for the doctor's name. He's expensive, but more than worth it.
