My friend who lives in DC near me got engaged about 6 months in September. She was with her fiance for 4 years.
Long story short...she suspected something wasn't 'right' b/c her fiance was staying out all the time and acting strange. She snooped and checked his sent mail messages...only to find massive emails back and forth between him and one of her bridesmaids....a girl we both went to school with, in our sorority. They had been 'dating' one another for 4 months!! So my poor friend has been planning a wedding, putting down deposits and now finds all this out. Needless to say...wedding is off, his family is disgusted...and he continues to date the other girl who of course is no longer her friend.
She has lost $3000 in deposits and is getting through it all...but what a terrible story. Sorry for the sad story...but I just couldnt get over it. When you think you know someone...
And he had the nerve to say 'things happen, we were just good friends and one thing led to another'....he would have gone through with the marriage while the other woman walked down the aisle as a bridesmaid!!! Men like that make me sick...(women too, don't want to single out just the men)

That is a horrible story but good thing she found out now and not at the alter. I have heard stories where the bride finds out the day before she walks down the isle or shortly before she is about to. I would kill him right there. I have found that you really find out who your true friends are when you get married--those that stick around during this crazy time are your true friends. Things happen for a reason and in the end it was better now than later.

Hardest part of it all..
they bought a home together before they got married :( She is a super smart girl, but like many of us who follow their hearts, thought it was a good idea.
She is just hoping he knows enough to do the right thing in this case at least..

better to lose $3K and that guy than more time being stuck with that P-I-G! i am SOOOOO sorry for her pain, and i know having you as friend there for her will help her through this hard time...better times ahead. geez though, when men suck they REALLY suck!!! for her!

Very sad story. But it's better that she found out now than later on. That is just awful. for your friend. Just be there for her to listen and provide comfort.

OMG! How awful!!! I just finished reading a book in which the same thing happened ('Something Borrowed'). The book made the whole situation funny but when it happens to someone in real life it's disgusting!!!

what a nightmare!!! i feel so bad for your friend- it's so hard to trust people. women (in this kind of situation) are scary because they don't even care that the guy is getting married; scary thoughts (not to mention the disgusting guys, ya know) horrible!

Oh my... something similar happened to my friend... she found out he was cheating 5 months before the wedding (they had been dating for 4 years). It was a mess....
