After I book my photographer, I'll be starting to look at dresses, hopefully in the late spring. Do I just call places, make appointments, hoping they have stuff that I like? Or do i give them style #'s I like and go to places that have them? ALso, if I like a dress, I'm allowed to write the style # down right? I know I can't take photos right? I think that *****! TGIF! :)

You call for appointments ask if they carry specific lines

Re: Trying on Dresses
Well I called for an appointment...I also looked for pics in magazines and brought them with me...
Once I got there... I tried on different styles to see which one I liked and looked go on me. Then I had the lady pull dresses that were the style that I wanted (off the shoulder/strapless..ballgown)
Then I went from there.
I started at Macys first...not that I wanted to necessarily buy there just because I know they have a big selection...Lillettes in Baldwin is excellent too...this is where I am buying my dress from
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN

Re: Trying on Dresses
First I checked magazine after magazine for what style I liked. Then I went to Macy's because I knew that was were they carried the manufacturer that I was interested in trying on. That's where I ended up Macy's. I just loved this one dress so much that I ordered it. Oh and I didn't make an appointment but I do believe other salons prefer you do. Good Luck!

Re: Trying on Dresses
See if you can find theknot magazine. The spring/summer magazine has 1000 gowns. The magazine also lists the stores that carry the designer, and they have a price range listing -- so you won't be super shocked when you get to the store. Good luck!

Re: Trying on Dresses
I would just call and make an appointment. Someone who knows what they are doing will be able to give you dresses based on what you want and your body type. I originally wanted a sheath or a-line dress, but the woman I was working with gave me this huge ball gown and i loved it. don't go in too closed minded.
