Trying on my dress

Trying on my dress

Ok, I'm a little annoyed. First of all, Bridal Suite of Bayshore did not call me OR send me a post card to let me know my dress/veil were in. I called 2 wks ago adn was told my dress was in adn they would contact me when my veil arrived. I called today, and the girl said they're both in... hmmm... anyhow, I asked if I could try it on prior to my fittings to make sure everything is ok with it, etc. She said yes, but that they only permit ONE preview before the trials, so that I'd better bring everyone that I want to see the dress w/me at one time! They won't take it out of storage again until my fittings! Is this normal!? I'm a little put off!

Also - Should I take the veil? What if I need to have a hair trial before then?

I've heard this before and while it bothers me it doesn't seem to unusual.
Perhaps they have to pay to put it in and out of storage? I don't know but either way I'd be annoyed too.

I would take the veil if I were you to have for trials.

Re: Trying on my dress

That does seem strict, I called in early january to see when my dress was coming in, and they told me early february, sure enough i got the call last week, from the main wharehouse that my gown was in....I asked if i can come in and look over the gown, make sure its correct etc, and they set me up an appt for tommorow.

Their policies dont seem right at all, and the fact that they never even called you would annoy me as well

First, the not calling you fact is annoying. Second, as far as trying on the dress more than once before fittings, i agree with them. Everytime you try on your dress, your run the risk of potentially damaging it or possibly staining it (if you wear makeup). I know it's your dress that you bought but i bought mine there too and actually prefer that it stays safe in the storage area. I'm sure if you called them and said that you wanted to try t on again, i think even though it's not their policy, they would still do it. Definitely take your veil for trials though!! HTH

Re: Trying on my dress

i just started going through this with them as well. i ordered in july and they told me it would be in in february. i called and they told me it was in. why didn't they call me? who knows! then i asked if my slip came in, thinking it would have been in WAY before a dress that is tailor made for me, and they said no.

i want to go try it on before my fittings to see about the jewlery and all, now i know that i only have one chance to do that. the more i am involved with them, the more disappointed i am. i even ordered my BM dresses from netbride bc BSoB gave me so much of a headache and only offered me $10 off their dresses.

AHHHHH!!!

call and ask again. some of the people that work there are don't know what they're doing. when i called first they said that it wasn't in, but when i called the next day they said it had arrived and i could come try it on whenever i wanted, i just had to give them notice since they had to take it out of storage. i don't think they do it on sat. either as that's their busiest day for selling/fittings. call again and just play dumb.

i would take the veil and ask them to steam it when you go to your last fitting. This way you have it for trials.

I honestly say that is very odd that they do that unless they storage it off site and that is why they only allow you once to see it before fittings.

I saw my dress a 2x before my fitting so i got to figure out how to wear my hair, etc.

WELL, MY SALON SAID IF I TAKE THE VEIL THEN I CAN NOT RETURN IT TO KEEP THERE, SO I DECIDED TO JUST LEAVE IT THERE AND I BOUGHT A FAKE VEIL FROM AC MOORE FOR MY TRIAL!!!!!

Yeah sometimes when I call I get an adult, and sometimes I get what sounds like an 18 year old girl... I usually get different answers/service when dealing with an adult!

Re: Trying on my dress

I've had a few family members purchase from Bridal Suite and had great experiences. On the other hand, I was there recently bridal gown shopping and then BM Dress shopping (seperate times) and had a horrible experience both times.

I would be really annoyed by their policy too. Is there possibly a manager or someone you could speak to?? I'm sure if you bring it to their attention, they might be more accomodating.

Re: Trying on my dress

i actually just picked up my headpiece this weekend bc i am having my trial this week....BUT i chose not to take me veil bc i don't want to ruin or wrinkle it. When you go for ur trial they should have a sample veil to play with if you don't pick your up!

Re: Trying on my dress

I think I understand why they give you the option of only trying the gown on once before you get fittings. If they have to shlep it from warehouse/storeage to the store it can be a chore for them.

But I don't understand why they didn't tell you that it was in.. that makes no sense unless they are so very busy that they are just slow there.

Re: Trying on my dress

they told me the same thing - something about it being in storage and they have to pay or something to get it out i think my dress is in, but no call no card so i'm not too sure. i'm not sure i like their procedure
