i had a family member get married this weekend and i told her about me wanting to donate money as my favor and she was like that is a fabulous idea... I get to the wedding(i was a bridesmaid too) and SHE DONATED MONEY AS FAVORS!!!... SHE TOOK MY IDEA!!My wedding is in 6 months and we are going to have a lot of the same people and now i dont know if i should donate money too... what should i do???

Thats ok, dont sweat it, do the same thing. Donate to the Breast Cancer Society and distribute the pink bracelets to everyone as a favor with a little note attached about wha tyou have done...get a little more creative than her.

We are giving out the Livestrong bracelets. There are so many charities you can donate money to.

Re: ugh!!!!

take it as a compliment!

so many people do favors nowadays it's not like it's a unique idea. it's pretty common. don't stress it and donate to who you want to.

Re: ugh!!!!

Something similar happened to me. I SO wanted to do our wedding colors as red with black and silver accents (Which happen to be FH's FAVE colors). Well FH's brother was married last May ('04) and her color was red. That is not to say I can't do it, but it's bad enough every aspect is going to be compared to FH's sister's wedding (which will have been 6 yrs ago at our wedding).

Lots of people are doing donations as favors now. I think you should just keep it and think of all the people you are helping. Try to forget that she stole the idea and go with it.

Re: ugh!!!!

ugh is right

i would either keep the original idea or buy live strong/ breast cancer bracelttes which is still a donation and the guests get to walk away with something - or buy the bracellettes and donate money.

but i know people especially on her side of the fam will say i copied... they are like that

So let them. You know that it was your idea first. When they mention that your other family member did it, you can say graciously, 'I know. I was the one who gave her the idea.'

Good thinking!!!

Re: ugh!!!!

I don't see why you are upset... I would be happy that 2 people are giving to charity. Not enough people give $$ to help others. Like another girl said, giving is a selfless act. I wouldn't stress, the more the merrier! I would be happy that someone else felt the same as I did about helping a cause.

I agree... don't stop yourself from doing a good thing just because she has done it too. Just make it better and I think the bracelet donations is a really good idea!

I think so many people do that these days. Its a fabulous idea. We donated to the widows and childrens fund for the fire department.

There are so many charities you can donate to. If you can buy the bracelets for your guests I think that's an awesome idea!

Some people have issues! Honestly thats why I don't like the idea of having weddings on the same year as someone else you know. Especially when mutual guests will appear to both of them. Good luck!

I have the same thing happening to me!!!!! But oh well.... don't stress right, just as the girls have said on the board, just tell the other family memebers, 'Yeah, I know.... I was the one who gave her the idea....'

donate money and maybe do a little something else

Re: ugh!!!!

I thought about this again and you know what? Who cares what people are going to say because in your heart you know that with the donations you will be helping children who need your help! A decent person would not criticize that you both gave to charity!

Re: ugh!!!!

I don't know, I wouldn't think of that as a copy favor really. You are both supporting something good. A box of M&M's or a donation to a charity are just such a different things. May-be give something along with the donation to make it different, or just present it really beautifully. Presentation is Key! Good luck, don't let this get you down!

I am also giving a donation to the AHA...and along with it a heart shaped cookie with red icing, so maybe you can come up with something to incorporate with the donation.

Just trying to help

I say to heck with her and her stealing ways... stick to your plan and donate. If to the same charity, great.. the more money for them!

If you want to go different and choose another charity, thats great too. Either way, you are helping fund a great organization/cause
