I dunno. I think it looks cool now...but I am not sure I'd look back 20 years from now with my kids and think that it was so awesome.
Personally - and this is just my opinion (I hate that I have to actually say that) - I think that the point of a first dance is a timeless, beautiful dance that captures the relationship of you and your FH and your future love.
I know a LOT of wedding guests look at the first dance and judge from it whether of not you'll make it as a couple! Wrong? Yes. But I know a lot of people do that.
Honestly, I think a hip hop routine is a very 'current' idea...but something you might look back on and regret....?
I dunno. I know I would regret it - hence my struggle with finding something PERFECT. But I also totally respect people's visions and differences and ideas.
If thats your thing - go for it. Just remember - people today still get up and dance to their wedding songs when they hear it. If thats something that is important to you, I'd look for something less 'different.'
I think its the one area of wedding where being 'different' and 'unique' is less important - because it's something that you'll come across with future engagements, formal dances, etc. I know that for me, I want to be able to actually hear my wedding song from time to time and be able to get up and dance to it. That's important to ME. So if thats something important to you, I'd think about it - or at least have another song in mind that might be more traditional....

Dancing is one of my biggest passions in life, unfortunatly I haven't been able to dance for two years because of horrible knee pain..but I keep praying it will get better..if it does..I will def. be doing something unique at my wedding.
I always wanted to do the dirty dancing dance since I was a little girl..but now I think I want it to be even more unique. Dancing just means so much to me, that it would make my wedding PERFECT in my eyes to have a perfectly cheorographed dance for just me and FH..I think I'd even cry at practices!! hehe..
I'm not sure if I'd use it as my first dance or not..I was thinking of maybe changing right after we cut the cake and then do a dance? Then of course, putting my dress BACK ON! hehe..
I absolutely LOVE this Mia Michaels dance..I've showed FH it and he said he'd try it..and he don't dance AT ALL..so we'll see...we both LOVE this song though and even considered it to be our wedding song...
Basically I think if dance represents you or your relationship you should DEF go for it!! It will be one of those moments you won't forget...

we're doing the dance from american wedding...into the mystic....my MOH basically figured out the beginning for us & that's what we're going to do. It's less than 30 seconds - but it's still something to us...

We're just doing a simple rhumba/waltz, which actually is a unique first dance for us because before we started dance class we had no idea how to dance at all.

you should! As long as you stick with the regular swing steps and he doesn't swing you through his legs or anything like that, you'll be fine in a dress
