So originally we were going to go to Bora Bora for our honeymoon but I feel like we have so many expenses now that I'm thinking twice about a 15k honeymoon. I just feel like everything is pilling up - we have so much left to pay for the wedding, then with the car accident and buying a new car, having $ for the closing costs on our house which will be probably in a month or so, my FH taxes will be due (he's self employed so he pays everything in april) & I know if we were getting married in like Septemeber - everything would be spread out and we'd be fine but everything kinda just happened at once and I know that we'd be better off (financially) going somewhere closer and for 1/2 that price and we'd have an awesome time. It's just I know its your honeymoon and we'll probaably never go again to BB - but at the same time I dont want to be selfish - I know after the wedding we'll be fine, money wise its just crunch time now and im so stressed out about all the expenses. ok just needed to vent!
Anyone in a similar boat?
ETA: I just spoke with FH - We decided to wait till July and go on our dream HM to Bora Bora :)

Re: Expenses - vent
ugh yes....
we have the wedding expenses and still didnt finish booking vendors.....as of now we still owe out over 20K and thats without finishing booking - not to mention the thousands of dollars we already paid to the hall, paid in deposits, and paid for my dress in full, etc.
then we had christmas which was crazy
then i got into an accident - cost us the 1K deductible and I had court last week in NJ for the ticket i received - it cost me $500 to downgrade the ticket to no points
im getting invisalign - we must be out of our minds b/c that is over 5K and we 15 months to pay it starting next week - after the 1/3 deposit i have to leave (which is another huge chunk of cash!) i have to pay $275 a month.....really - i dont know what the hell we are thinking its just i want a gorgeous smile for the wedding and my FH will do anything to make it happen for me - except its stressing us both out now
yesterday i went to the dermatologits and he suggested that a plastic surgeon do my biopsy so i have less scarring - i called them this morning and that's another $500.00
plus we have all of our other bills and our mini mortgage for our land in florida....im praying that the weather starts warming up so at least my heating bills go down! i want to start looking at florists but im afraid

Yea, we're going to Aruba and got an amazing deal. I would love to go to Europe or Hawaii or something, but it's just too much.
We've decided we'll go to Europe in the summer of 2009 instead.
I know it's out Honeymoon, but it's just soo much. we're getting a gorgeous suite and it's all inclusive, but we got a great deal and I don't really feel like we're skimping..We'll still be together in a tropical place and relaxing..so it will be fine!

Re: Expenses - vent
you can go on an amazing HM for half the price
and dont think about a location and think UGH its too much i wont even bother bc thats what everybody tried to tell us and with research i found amazing deals. We're going to spain and monaco. Everybody was telling me to forget about monaco. I found such an amazing deal and at one of their top 5 hotels.
If you need help with ideas or anything about the HM let me know. With a little bit of effort trust me you can find something amazing. Honestly you can even get packages to italy and a couple of cities for 8k and even under that, and other places too

Re: Expenses - vent
I think many of us are in the same boat right now
We are mostly done booking vendors, all we have left is the florist and the minor things like favors, BP gifts etc but we still have a ton of money to save. FH has to get a new car soon because his lease is up which will cost a few thousand for a down payment and on top of that we will be closing on our house in a few months. We have to also bring the travel agent another 3K towards our honeymoon and a couple of weeks. I dont know how we are going to do it all.
If you think the stress of that alone is bad, on top of that we just found out my mom has breast cancer and my dad has to go for heart surgery. I dont know what to do anymore, I feel like its all happening at once.

I feel the same way our wedding is in 23 days and we still have to pay off vendors, buy BM/GM gifts, and we are supposed to be closing on our house next week (if everything works out) but I just feel like where is all this money going to come from but FH keeps telling me that it will work out and after the wedding we will be fine but it doesn't feel like it!! But don't worry everything usually has its way of working itself out..did you talk to your FH about changing your HM plans?

My first advice is to go on the honeymoon you want. I think if you don't you'll look back and regret it. I would call your travel agent and talk about options. I know that I was getting 12 days in Tahiti for $10,000..I know that is not much cheaper then your $15000 but it's something. FH and I are paying for our Greece honeymoon on a 0% credit card. i hate credit cards but I know once the wedding comes we can use gifts and such. That being said, if you really don't want to spend that much you can go on amazing honeymoon for much less. The bottom line is you'll be with your new husband. Try to focus on that. No matter what it will be memorable...

gabbie - you can go ANYWHERE with your FH and still have an amazing time - its your honeymoon and your first time together as husband and wife - i think HM's can be a little overrated - its going to be an awesome and unforgettable time no matter where you are. you can def find places for less money....we lucked out and are going to aruba and staying in my FH's aunt's timeshare so we just have to pay our airfare and save for spending money - aruba wasnt our first choice but it wasnt our last choice either - we figured we'd be stupid not to take her offer and save some money.....you will enjoy it no matter where you are! and you know the girls on here will help you find an amazing deal

you don't have to spend a fortune to go a place that you really want for your HM.. intially when we were looking for HM places, a lot of friends told us to steer clear of Europe.. but FH just booked our tickets to Spain last week (he did some snooping around and found awesome rates).. and we got awesome deal.. and our travel agent was very diligent about finding us the right hotels and tours..

Do you have any other places you would like to go? In my opinion if you will regret it then maybe its worth putting it on a credit card and paying it off.

Ya i forgot about spending money....well FH and I are going to Greece for 11 days to 3 islands for just over $7000 if you are interested in that let me know. I'd be happy to help you with that I wanted to go to an all inclusive in cabo but FH wanted a trip that we wouldn't take a gain for a long time once kids come...and I am happy he made me do it. But one can only do what they can afford...I guess technically we can't afford it but that much split over 12 months isn't so bad!

A $15k honeymoon?
Wow. I'm sorry, but if you can't afford it you can't afford it but that doesn't mean you can't have an amazing HM.
I try to understand peoples thought processes when it comes to stuff like this and I just don't get it.
