UPDATE gross question about losing baby teeth...

Pastina lost her front upper teeth and the new ones are in already.

But, now it looks like her upper molars in the back are going to come out, but the gums around the teeth look like they're coming off as well. There is more gum tissue above the area, but it just seemed strange to me that the gums around the molars would also come off...

Is this normal?

UPDATE: Both teeth are gone and she appears to be fine

This happened to Loki when he was teething. He was bleeding a little by his molars and lost some of his gums with the tooth. I brought him to the vet, just to be safe & he said that it happens, but he gave me a topical antibiotic for inside his mouth to make sure he did not get an infection.

I never had it happen with any of my other dogs.

I dont recall that happening to Peanut when she was losing her teeth. But then again, I only found maybe 4 of her teeth. I think she acidentally swallowed the rest.

it is really uncommon to find their baby teeth b/c they usually swallow them when they eat. we found charlotte's because she would chew the rawhides and that is what she would leave behind. pastina should be fine...the gums are irritated and probably moving to get ready for the bigger teeth.
