**Update: I just spent the last two hours (im pmsing majorly) crying to my mom and fh.. Its the rest of the family... if we have it in NY and DONT invite them i think it will cause MORE of a war than having it in Disney!!!!!! My uncle is manager of MGM and said he can get us a deal there as well for 50 guests...(I must have chewed his ear off tonight...
fmil says 'If you have a wedding in NY your going to go broke' my mom says'Its your wedding do what you want, all that matters is the bride and groom' and fh says 'I want the fireworks at disney'
But, I am THEE most sensitive person so all I keep saying to fh is 'But your family will be so upset'
He doesnt care. He said its all about us, no one else....
And I know everyone is saying 'Okay so do it' But those of you who are as sensitive as me know in my head I will keep thinking about those 'others' lol....
Thank you though girlies.... The vote stands for DISNEY<3

So, more confusion (and I hoped 08 would bring me LESS drama)
Yesterday both families made it clear that getting married in florida makes it impossible for those who do not fly to go....
so my answer was, 1. get over your fear or 2. take the train.... of course I didnt say it tothem, but I said it to one of my bms...
They agree...however...both sides, although still not admitting that were engaged until they see the ring... are putting their noses in now saying that florida is not a good idea. That our 40 person wedding is rediculous and a waste of money. That we should just get married in NY so we can invite THE WHOLE family...
fhs sil and brother had a 330 person wedding. I almost died. $78,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They waited 8 years to get married and his brother is now 33... I cant do that. I mentally can not stay in my house that long to afford a wedding that is THAT big when I hate peoplelooking at me as it is!!!
So, the outcome is:
Keep the 09 wedding in Disney or Chang to 2010 and spend triple....
i want number one... but whats going to happen with family...i dont know if i can handle as much as a hole in my bank

Re: change my dream wedding to please everyone else?
Its YOUR wedding. My vote is for Disney. I know this is easier said than done but if they are not contributing to the wedding then they are not allowed to tell you where to have it. Do they have any concept of how expensive weddings are? This is something you need to decide for yourself.

Do whatever you want bc you cant please everyone. The only people that you should go out of your way to make happy are you and your FH. End of story.

Do what makes YOU and FH happy. If people love you, they will respect your wishes for your big day.

What about compromising with the fam and saying you'll do it in NY but its gonna be small! I too wanted to a destination type wedding until I realized some of the people I really wanted there wouldnt be able to make it... (you know how the elders are) .... Make it like a small disney themed wedding at a hall (you can still find ones for cheap pp prices in NY!)

i would do what makes you and fh most happy. at first i was set on a destination wedding, and my family was all for it.. but when the time came i realized that people who meant a lot to me wouldnt be able to make it.. and thats what mattered most to me.
whatever you do DONT go in debt for a wedding just because other people want you to.. but also make sure that everyone who is important to you and fh will be able to spend the day with you, thats my opinion. if you want disney maybe you could have the church ceremony here and a small reception of even a dinner and then have the honeymoon in disney??
in the end though you have to do with makes you and fh happy.. not what will make others happy.

I say do it at Disney...its a beautiful setting you both will love it. You can always do a little brunch after the wedding in NY. That way both sides win.

Thats a tough place that they are putting you in. I would let them all know that you would LOVE to have everyone at your wedding, and you would do it in a heartbeat if money wasn't an issue. However, you have to move on with your life and start your life with FH the way YOU guys want to. Honestly, when it comes down to a house or a wedding ..I think EVERYONE would understand choosing the house if they could just take a second and put themselves in the situation! I hope everything works out for you sweetie!

yea it's tough, but like i said before it's impossible to make everyone happy... and i think what makes you and FH happy is going to Disney (at least from what you stated) so i wouldn't change a damn thing.. and FMIL is saying you wont go broke, she's lyingggg.. lol

Its all about you and your FH! Do what you want and F everyone else! Have your wedding your way! I think its stupid to go broke for a wedding just to make everyone else happy. Go to disney girl! The people who matter will make the trip! Everyone else will get over it!

Do what you want.!!! I wanted a destination but decided to do a NY wedding because it would be easier for family not to fly. Maybe you could even do both. Why don't do something small like resturant dinner with the family who cannot not travel and have a small cermony at the park. Then plan something in Disney as well and include the family that is willing to travel. You cannot please everyone make yourself happy.
