Re: my 2nd class wedding
That is just their opinion. U do not need flowers as CP. You do what you can afford . If he/she wants to give their opinion so much, why not give you money for the flowers. Iam sure they did not offer!!!!! Your wedding is not going to be 2nd Class, It is going to be 1st class!!!!!

We are not having flower centerpieces. We are making our own centerpices and for 20 tables they cost a total of $200.- thats $20 per centerpices! Dont worry about keeping up with the jones's!
Kim, you said it best...Don't feel like you have to keep up with the Jones'!!!! Just b/c someone else can afford or loves, or feels they need the best of everything, doesn't mean that's right for everyone. I started getting carried away with all the ideas that were thrown at me and finally took a deep breath and said 'yes it's one special day - but it is ONE day' If you can afford to do it, great, but if you can't....you will still make your wedding beautiful, b/c it's about the love you share not what's on the tables.

I had a friend that didnt have flowers either. I never even noticed. She told me months later that she had candelabra instead, and I hadn't a clue!
You don't have to do anything you don't want to. It's your day. If you still want some kind of CP. What about a candle in like a hurricane glass? I am sure you can find them cheap in michaels. they have them on sale sometimes. I know what you mean about the flowers. there there for a few hours and not worth it at all. But they do make the room look nice. but I htink the candle thing is nice also.
I love this arrangements it will show and it will last much longer then flowers

JT is gorgeous and the food is great!
its a wedding - people will drink, eat and be merry - the DJ will get people on the dancefloor and your guests will have a good time....
it will be fine - your wedding is not going to look 2nd class at all! trust us all! at this point i might not have flower centerpieces either - there are other less expensive things that look nice too....
sometimes i wish we had more money to spend on certain things for the wedding but when i come back to reality i realize that all those thing are gone when the day is over - and its not really what the wedding is about anyway - and then i feel better

Don't let people get you down. The whole point of a wedding is the marriage. I think sometimes people loose sight that it's not just A day it's a lifetime. Having flowers doesn't mean you are more married then someone who doesn't have any. It's crazy if you are getting criticized over how you want your day to be they are just nuts. trust me you are going to remember this day for the rest of your life if you have a million dollar wedding or a hundred dollar wedding. I'm sorry this was said to you, don't loose sleep over it. In the grand scheme of things its more important to focus on what is meaningful to you. You are a smart girl for doing it the way you want it!

Lies lies lies.... Tell me... can you remember any of the flowers from any of the weddings you went to??? I can't!
It's the DJ and the people that make the wedding... as long as everyone is on that dance floor having a good time, that's all that matters... THAT makes agreat wedding!
I was just going to say the same thing. I was just trying to remember ONE centerpiece from ONE wedding that I have been to and I cant. Not even ONE! What I do remember is the fun, food, drinking, dancing and how happy/beautiful the bride looked. Dont sweat the details and feel bad. It is easy to get caught up in every little aspect, but I think once the wedding is over you will be glad that you allocated those funds for your honeymoon instead of spending them on flowers that will DIE the day after and most people will not remember anyway.

Re: my 2nd class wedding
We are doing our own centerpieces, large martini glasses bought from ACmoore with water & floating candles then just rose petals on the tables. I like large flower centerpieces, but for some reason I did not want them at my wedding and it would of been way out of our budget to have this. The only thing we are paying for is the martini glasses, a friend of the family gave us the candles for my bridal shower and the florist threw in the rose petals for free so since we have been using the coupons to buy the martini glasses we are paying less than $10 for each centerpiece.

Re: my 2nd class wedding
you absolutely don't need flowers.. you can rent candelbras for $15 bucks from decorators and it will look beautiful..
don't fall into the though that your wedding will 2nd class.. absolute BS.. please.. your guests and you make the wedding..
props to you to putting your foot down using it for something worth while.. i'd rather pay for HM than give people flowers to take home with..

Re: my 2nd class wedding
Your wedding is NOT 2nd class.
Tell whoever wants flowers to pay or them....put up or shut up!
I honestly don't remeber the flowers from all the weddings I've been to.
Since I'm having a very Holiday themed wedding I might do the centerpieces myself or just buy poinsetta and use that as centerpieces. They'll be in season for sure.
We have to save where we can...so no losing sleep over this! U'll lose more sleep if you get into big debt.

Re: my 2nd class wedding
flowers don't make a wedding... its the BRIDE and GROOM that make the wedding! DUH!!
don't let anyone else dictate what your wedding should be! floral arrangements are nice, but thats about it. I don't think it makes or breaks a wedding.
