Can anyone suggest a nice place to go for a short vacations?
Last time FH and I went away was last November to Mexico. Trying to save $ now with the wedding coming up but would still like to take a lil stress-free getaway sometime in July.
Something within the states (FH's passport just expired - who knows how long it will take for the renewal to get sent!), maybe for a lil under a week. Would like something relaxing and not too expensive!

San Diego is absolutely amazing! We went for the first time last year and we both instantly fell in love with it. It's so beautiful and the weather is perfect. There are so many things to do but it's relaxing at the same time.

Key West!
FH and I went a few years ago. We flew into Ft. Lauderdale, rented a convertible, and drove from there to Key West. It's about a 3 hour drive, but it's awesome!

it was more about adventure when we went- like seeing the rainforest, volcano, going to hot springs, horseback riding, canopy tours, atv tours. we gave ourselves time to relax on the beach- but we were usually doing tours that were 12-14 hours a day (which yes are long haha, but you get to sleep on the way back to the hotel). if you go, i suggest you stay on the north pacific side because of the way their beaches are.

sorry if this is a silly question but is it safe? i always get scared with the different stories people tell me about any place out of the states!

we thought it was safe when we went in 2006. i still remember that vacation like it was yesterday. the hotels are gated for security. but my boyfriend and i walked to the stores and restaurants and we felt safe. the ONLY time we didnt feel safe was when the hotel called car service for us to go to a couple cities south to go experience the nightlife. They dont have like a car service like we have here. it was some guy in his own car and we were driving in complete darkness and he didnt really speak english so we were trying to speak spanish and it wasnt working out and he didnt know what place we were talking about. so in my head i thought we were being ki*d*napped but everything was fine and we got where we needed to go. people were really nice to us when we were there and i would totally go back.

There's the HUGE zoo, Sea World, Old Town San Diego, the Seaport Village, the Gaslamp District where they have all shops, restaurants and bars, there's Coronado which is just beautiful, Petco Park where the Padres play (so beautiful and clean! lol) if you like baseball. SD is also just about a 2 1/2 hour drive to LA (we did the drive and it's not bad at all - we flew into LA and then drove down to SD and left from there). You can also drive to La Jolla and walk around the town which is right on the water and they have this one section where seals just hang out on the beach and on the rocks and stuff. It's the coolest thing! There's so much that we were there for 4 days and there was so much that we didn't get to see.

FH and I did Napa and San Francisco in May, and had an amazing time. We went from Wed - Sunday. Would have liked to stay longer, but definitely got to do all we wanted.
