Re: Vacations
My preference would be someplace exotic or different like a tropical island or to explore Europe or maybe an Asian country. I would like to see some other states, but I am sure there are some where there are not too much to do. I know Oregon has some good wines and scenic for hiking and all but if you are not into that, it wouldn't be much fun.

Re: Vacations
As you probably already know, I guess I kind of like 'extreme vacations' hehe. But seriously, I figure while I'm young, healthy & able to walk, hike, explore, travel far distances, etc... I want to take the cool trips like Africa, Australia, stay in a 'haunted' European castle, etc... I'll save the beaches/cruises for when I'm a bit older, have kids, & eventually become a senior. JMO. My girlfriends were laughing at me the other day- we were reading Conde Nast Traveller & they were looking at pics of beaches & palm trees, & I said 'Ooooh, look, a trip around China! ' They were like... Guess that's just me.

Re: Vacations
Vacations, I love them ALL!!!
I like the beach bum vacations, the outdoorsy vacations and the city/culture vacations. When I was younger the big vacations were trips to the Philippines to see my extended family. I went for summers, while I was out of school. I feel like I got a little bit of everything there- learning the history, going to the museums, eating the food and island hopping.
FH and I have been to Paris and Miami together. He's generally a beach bum, but he did mention wanting to go to Egypt and China. One of my life goals is for us to visit every continent at least once.
I would like to do the international travel while I am on the young side, and save the US for when I am a little older. I think it will be easier- not dealing with too many language or currency issues. My grandma went around Europe in her mid 70's and while she loved it, it totally exhausted her.
i could run my mouth forever about traveling.

Re: Vacations
Honestly, as long as it's anywhere, but here. I could have fun if it's Oregon or Australia. Every place has its own unique sights and things to do.

Oregon/Washington was one of the most beautiful trips I've ever been on. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

But would you choose it over say Paris/Hawaii etc if there was a choice?

Re: Vacations
This is such an interesting question, mainly because I love to travel and DH doesn't quite as much .. hence, there are always problems when the subject of our vacation plans come up
We are going through this RIGHT NOW and its so frustrating! The main reason that DH and I have sooo much trouble planning vacations is that our ideas of 'vacations' are completely different things!!
DH hates to fly - he has gotten to the point he really will not even go on a plane. I actually enjoy it. HIS idea of vacation would be things like camping, hiking, staying in a cabin .. Anything within driveable distance .. oh yeah, his favorite idea - off roading in the Jeep () .. He doesn't like island stuff at all, and wouldn't go to Europe if I paid him.
It was quite lucky I was able to get him on a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon, but that was mainly because it left from NJ and he was excited about all the food that cruises promise
Before meeting DH, I did a LOT of traveling..I LOVE to travel! We would pick a spot in Europe or going to an island with my girlfriends -- this was my idea of a vacation. For my European trips, I enjoyed being able to experience different cultures, enjoy nice restaurants and go to a lovely hotel.. sightsee and shop.. For Caribbean vacations, I just welcome the R&R, being pampered, tanning, relaxing ... its just so serene and peaceful and FUN
While I am 'open' to the idea of seeing differnet states, its not my top priority on vacationing per se. I have been to Florida, California, Texas, the Carolinas, Arizona, Maryland, etc.. but if you gave me the option of staying in the states or going to the Caribbean or Europe/Asia/Africa etc... I would definitley choose the latter

I am sure it is beautiful but that just isn't my idea of a fun vacation

In my opinion its not either. But if that is somewhere that you want to go then GO! Don't let anyone tell you different. My mom and dad and our friend Brian has been there and they say its not that nice and dirty. BUT I still would like to go one day!!!!

I would love to go to New Orleans with DH. IMO it's an extremely romantic city (when women aren't flashing their tits during Mardi Gras, that is!).
