Oh and I picked Turks & Caicos for our HM--The Veranda, it's a fairly new all-inclusive

Fall theme weddings are great, so cozy
I looked at so many places in Turks. I think the issue was I really wanted oceanFRONT not oceanview and I could not find anything in our price range. There was one place, Le Viele or something like that but it did not have restaurant on site.

Grace Bay is beautiful though

Do you remember which chicken dish you tried?

Thanks! It's our dream HM and I am SO excited

And unfortunately I don't remember! It was chicken on the bone and if I had our menu in front of me I could probably remember....I never order chicken out and I don't like chicken on the bone, but this was really good--not dry at all! I have heard nothing but good things about the VYC food, and trying it firsthand proved what good food they have.

Re: Venetian Yacht Club brides

What about the Couples or Secrets resorts? I don't remember the prices.
For Sandals, It's strange...I heard from someone that Sandals St. Lucia was terrible and then from another that it was amazing. Who knows. There are 3 on the island though so maybe each one is different.

Not sure if you're interested but Cabo San Lucas is great
It's on the other side of mexico (pacific).
There is no Sandals but there is a RIU Palace. It's all inclusive. I think that is the best RIU because the ones in Jamaica and Bahamas didn't get great reviews but I've been to the one in Cabo and it was wonderful

Just an idea

LOL

I changed my honeymoon 4 times!
(literally)

Florida & Bahamas
Turks & Caicos
Riviera Maya, Mexico
and FINALLY St. Lucia!

We're staying in a private villa overlooking Marigot Bay. It has a private pool and a small kitchen
http://www.oasismarigot.com/caribbean-blue.html

The Sandals resorts were way to expensive and some of them did not get great reviews
I didn't want to book such a $$ trip not knowing how the service would be, etc.. Plus, we could not afford the oceanview there.

Turks & Caicos is so beautiful but terribly expensive. Again, we couldn't afford the oceanview so I started looking into other things.

I'm super excited about St. Lucia!

Oh, if I went through how many HM changes I have been through, we could be here all day!!

I am looking at Sandals bc we need All Inclusive. I dont want to cook one single thing, wash one single dish, or have to worry about anything. I know it's completely inflated, price-wise, but it's a once in a life time trip. We wont ever spend this much again on a 9 day trip! Your resort looks so nice and peaceful, too

Trust me, I have explored every single one of the locations/resorts you mentioned. Couples rooms are so basic that I wouldnt be happy. My TA even said it's not luxury, and dammit I want SOME LUXURY! lol Secrets looks great but we are not interested in Mexico at all, and prob not going to Jamaica so that;s that.

As for Cabo, it's rocky and the beach is likely not swimmable. I want the Caribbean flat bay where I can just float. Ahh to float!

Sandals does have 3 resorts on St Lucia, and I am between 2. One is a definite NO, so that makes it a bit easier. I read tripadvisor reviews for HOURS over the last few nights and am seeing themes for the negative reviews. Mostly, it surrounds some of the rooms being a bit outdated (but who really cares if there are pineapple curtains?!) and the service a bit slower at some restaurants. It's an ISLAND, and island time is to be expected. I think people just need something to complain about when they write a review. How bad can paradise truly be???? Ya know?!

I am getting married there Oct 29, 2011.

Eric is my go to guy and he's great.

I'm using the downstairs room.

Went for food tasting: Salmon, lemon chicken, chateaubriand was all good.

Ceremony is not there, and I'm having a hard time deciding on where to take pictures. I'm trying to avoid the Argyle Park. Any suggestions??

Re: Venetian Yacht Club brides

Some ideas:
When is your wedding? Which room? June 30, 2012 - Upstairs room. I forget the name

Who is your Banquet Manager? Giulio who is such a sweet man. He even won brownie points when he spoke in Italian to my parents. But we worked a little with Eric while Giulio was out sick and he was awesome.

What colors are you using for dresses/flowers? Gray/yellow. Went with Pedestals. Heard they were super expensive, but they were extremely reasonable.

Are you having your ceremony there? no

If so, are you taking all your pictures there?

Going to walk around babylon village and along the residential streets along the bay leading to the hall. I've heard a LOT of brides go to Argyle and it can get crowded. I have also heard that you should check out Argyle a few days before your wedding and see what the geese situation is. They can get in the way and dropping ruin dresses.

Has anyone gone for a tasting? Which entrees are the best?

Had the fliet mignon, garlic chicken and salmon. ALL good!

Has anyone tried their pasta? They didn't serve it at our tasting and my father was highly offended that they wouldn't boil some water for him so he could taste their sauce. Italian papas are a tough crowd, but he enjoyed the other food.

Has anyone heard anything about the 'shot' policy? We were told no shots at all. Not looking to get loopy at my wedding or watch my guests get sloppy, but every wedding I have been to has always had a few good shot/cheers rounds. Don't want to annoy my guests either.

Were told no shots but you can have small glass

Re: Venetian Yacht Club brides

You'd be surprised the back of Argyle park is a nicer view than the front (by the train)

Maybe the 'lake' over in Brightwaters on Montauk Highway. There is a bridge going across. Nothing super fancy.

If you are end of October though, go to the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale and you should see some beautiful foliage

Re: Venetian Yacht Club brides

I fell in love with the arboretum but my ceremony is over at 4 and we are taking a few pics at church. We wouldn't have enough time they close at 5, we would have to be there by 430.

It's right on Montauk Highway the lake in Brightwaters? I'll have to check it out thanks.
Royalgem21 Posted:

Re: Venetian Yacht Club brides

That's too bad! No way to move it up a little or cut it short 15 min?

Anyway, the lake is set back but yes it's on Montauk Highway. It's really nothing exciting, just a lake with a little bridge. If it's out of the way for you to check it out, it might not be worth it.

What about robert moses state park across from the RM bridge? I used that for my save the date.

Especially because the RM bridge is in sight at the Venetian

Fire Island lighthouse also is very nice. Not sure if it's 'closed' that time of year.

We're thinking about having the table names as the names of famous bridges. I was thinking about getting postcards of the bridges and having that as the actual table number. Not sure if that's cheesy. I'm trying to make it elegant.

Was just at VYC today for a payment. Besides the offices and a small part of patio she never know there was a hurricane there last week.

Re: Venetian Yacht Club brides

Can't move it.

Our photographer suggested Belmont State Park and Venetian Shores. I like the idea of the Lighthouse. I really over thinking things and driving myself crazy.

That's a cute idea for the tables. Got me thinking about mine we both like NASCAR and got engaged at a track in front of the driver I follow. I should have each table as a track.

Curious to see if we can get a group going of all the brides booked for VYC.

Some ideas:
When is your wedding? December 9th

Which room?
90 minute CH Downstairs Regency
Reception: Upstairs State Suite

Who is your Banquet Manager?
Giulio

What colors are you using for dresses/flowers?
Dresses Black Strapless Bill Levkoff
Flowers: White Phalaenopsis Orchids

Are you having your ceremony there? No, its at church

If so, are you taking all your pictures there?
No, some pictures at church; at the Vanderbilt Mansion and then some more at the VYC

Has anyone gone for a tasting? Which entrees are the best?
We haven't had our tasting yet, but we will be scheduling soon!

Re: Venetian Yacht Club brides

(Originally in this post I mentioned that I wasn't sure how nice Venetian Shores was, but I went there recently and it's beautiful!)

Belmont Lake and park should have beautiful foliage that week.

I don't know if you've been to the lighthouse but it's Robert Moses Field 5 and then you have to walk approx 10 minutes on the wooden path to get to the lighthouse. I know a couple that took pics here, they came out beautiful.
