Very sad about wedding....

Veronica!! I know you're probably very upset but please don't give up! Weddings are a huge expense and There are plenty of places that will work with you and your budget. Have you tried different country clubs? A lot of them include limos, dj and photographer! I have a few friends that did that and it was under $15,000 Some even less than that. The RH you're are interested in now.. How much do they want per person? I will help you in any way I can! Don't lose hope you are going to have a beautiful wedding!!!! Love ya!

P.S... FH and I are waiting on our honeymoon until we can save up more money.. We want to have a nice one so we agreed to wait on it

FH and I came up with the destinatoin wedding idea to save money....well our parents didn't like it. so after FH and I got into a fight about it (he wanted to do it to save money to then buy a house right now) I went to my parenst and had a long talk with them. I cried a lot and was telling themhow we're trying to save etc adn how hard it is (FH was on unemployment at the time) and how we might have to push it back even further (we were originally oct 2011) and I had already been told by my dad that they were goin to be giving us something. Well it turns out it was a lot more than I could ever have dreamed!

I would suggest talking to your parents, explaining all of your financial troubles and show them how much things cost (my parents ahd no clue as they got married 32 years ago).......and when they say they re goin to give you something, say something along the lines of your appreciate whatever they will contribute and need to know if they will be giving you a sum of money or paying for a vendor or your dress or whatever. tell them you don't wan tto be rude and ask but you need to know how much so you can plan everything out.

FH and I sat down with what we both make every month...we wrote down all our bills...calculated how much we spend on food, gas etc for a month...threw ina little extra for unforseen things and came up with how much we could save every month..it's tough but we do it. we've cut back on so much and decided to invest in netflix and hbo to keep us occupied for now as it will ultimately save us money from going out.

The place in VT that I stayed at was the Seth Warner Inn. They provide you will breakfast every day...it's soo yummy!!! It's close to outlets and other neat things...just very pretty to be up there. very romantic place, it's a bed and breakfast....I also know of many other's in Vermont, Maine and NH and pocono's let me know if you need help. We also saved on ferry by driving up it was about 5 hours from us so about 4 hours from nassau county. Pretty drive.

This could be a cheesy idea for a honeymoon but it's what they used to do for them back when my parents got married......you could go to the pocono's for a couple of days and stay at a pocono palace resort...these are the places you see on TV with the heart shaped bed and pool or hot tub in the room!!! It's kinda cheesy but kinda cool too...all inclusive http://www.covepoconoresorts.com/suites/poconopalacesuites.aspx the top rooms are about 3-400 a night but it inclues FOOD!
There is also a Great Wolf Lodge in PA which has families but has a cool indoor waterpark.
All of these you can drive to which saves $$ as well.

you know pricing in the winter months is a worlddd apart from spring/summer and fall from what I looked at, maybe you wanna consider moving your wedding to dec, jan feb mar? Also don't stress about honeymoon, you will go on tons of vacations with FH throughout your life, this one dosent need to be perfect, you just wanna go away somewhere to relax and celebrate, dosent need to be over the top! Also a lot of people hold off on the honeymoon and go away for just a weekend right after, this would make a lot of sense if you got married in the winter months, but a lot of people do it just because of scheduling/work stuff. Don't stress you'll find a way!!

I always dreamed of getting married in the fall with sunflowers everywhere because I'm obssessed with sunflowers but if I wanted a 'big' wedding at the RH I am having it at, I needed to have a winter wedding, so thats what I did. I don't regret it one bit because utimately I am marrying the man of my dreams and thats all that matter, not when and where it is! As for the honeymoon, I'm not going on one, we wanted a house and I would rather not spend the money on an outrageous vacation and save it for our one year anniversary! I hope you feel better sweetie!!! and BTW, I think I saw that you work at Fox hollow????? I worked there for many years....Dave Gerrin or Tony Scotto couldn't hook you up???????

check the Swan club & Coral House-both offer menu's at GREAT prices!! If you keep your list to 75 people; and don't go over the $75 per person costs(after tax & tip) you should be ok. Just shop within your budget; dress; flowers; stationary; DJ. Negotiate EVERYTHING. I think i had suggested you look at restaurants that have private rooms?

Do you need an open bar? If you do just a wine/beer package that might save you some $$.

So sorry! I completely understand! I'm unemployed and FH and I have a mortgage to pay each month. I don't know how this is going to happen, but I am determined! If you want it bad enough just keep your head up and find a way!!! There are a lot of ways to make it beautiful without spending a fortune. Good luck!

me & FH went through something very similar. dont worry, everything will work out. there are some very wise women on these boards, full of great money saving ideas.
listen, FH & i are very young also, just starting in our careers, but we feel that the time is right, and we wanted to have a nice wedding.
my parents are paying for the dress and the dj. my dress was very reasonably priced, and we are cutting back in certain things, we took a basic package with the video, my brother is doing the pics for the wedding, and we are using flowers that are in season to cut costs. im sure you keep hearing this, but you should look into a thur or friday night, they tend to be less expensive. you dont have to go over the top. winter weddings are beautiful, and the people who love you will be there no matter what time, or season you chose to get married.
FH and i are holding off on our actual 'honey moon' and just taking a cruise after the wedding. money is tight. iam a social worker and lord knows this field doest reward financially. do what you can with what you have, it will be beautiful because it is all about the begining of your everything.
hey, even a nice tent in the back yard with pupusas and horchata can be a joyous affair :)

That is why we chose November instead of a peak wedding month which is anything from April-September the best prices are winter weddings. We thought that the price at Jericho Terrace was great you should check that out.


Pick a Fri over a sat- we never thought we could afford our wedding at Villa Lombardis - so we didn't even want to go there but since we were open about dates it def helped!!

Keep ur head up!!! LI Weddings are insanely priced its sad but true.. Also another nice option is Westbury Manor- they are very affordable as well!!

~ the rivera in massapequa has insane rates for the winter season... like $55 pp for weekend.
~im having a family friend do the video- i just want to be able to have the memories- i dont need it to be fancy.
~i got a beautiful priscilla of boston dress that was orignally 3500 for 999at a sample sale!!
~check etsy or craigslist for jewlery
~post a barter on craigslist for the honeymoon. lots of people are struggling right now- i know lots of people who are giving up their timeshare week b.c they cant afford a vaca
~think of creative things for centerpieces- candles, vases filled with pinecones or christmas ornaments, cranberries etc
~makeup schools/hair schools for hair and makeup

all my vendors are cheap/reasonable and talented... we have a morgage and 2 kidss we are raising and we are doing it under 18,000.

Ok just an idea......Jan/Feb/Mar are the cheaper wedding months. What about doing a Sunday afternoon in jan/feb/mar? Also, have you thought about Thursday night? It's becoming the new thing. I have 2 weddings to go to next year on Thursdays. Both on Long Island!

Might be a good way to cut costs. Also, Hidden Essence florist is a great price and her work is absolutely beautiful. She is definitely worth looking into.

aww veronica - I'm so sorry you're feeling like this. Don't give up yet. Like what a lot of the girls mentioned, there are definitely different options out there - and I think one being changing the month that you want to get married. Also, you need to start going to different RH's to price them out - you'll never know what pricing you'll get once you go there and try to negotiate with them. Pretty much every single vendor i went to, I was able to negotiate - so please don't give up. We're all here to help you out. Cheer up girl!
