Check out Villa Russo's packages for small events.
They are very reasonable.

ITA about villa russo, also check out Roma View in Howad beach. its very pretty and right on the water.
you also dont have to do cocktail hour , you can just do sit down diner.

you dont have to do big flower centerpieces. you can just do some rose petals and candles on the table. you just need Bok's and boutineers( go to *******)

go to Davids for your dress or the wedding center has clearance days.

get some town cars for limos.

and see if the person that did your engagement photos can do your wedding.

Re: Very sad about wedding....

have you started calling any halls yet? If you can; try to make your appointments for during the week; the weekends are very hard for them to show you rooms (usually events going on).

Re: Very sad about wedding....

I don't know what date you had in mind, and I know others suggested it, but I'd strongly urge you to look into a winter wedding. Not only are they generally less $$$, you also generally have more negotiating power with vendors because they'd rather be making less but be booked than sitting doing nothing and not getting paid.

Another piece is I'm not sure how many people you had in mind, but make it a close family and friends affair so you can have what you want without breaking the bank.

Another thought, which we're doing, is going on the honeymoon a few months after the wedding. Less craze on planning but also easier on the wallet.

What about asking family for help? Do you have someone(s) who you can ask to either help or to loan you the $ that you can pay them back over time?

Biggest suggestion I really have is negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. You can always talk vendors (including a RH) down in price and to tack extra things on.

Hang in there, breathe, and try to relax.

Re: Very sad about wedding....

I second the Miller Place Inn. They are very nice and also look at the Thatched Cottage on Centerport. They have the packages that include a bunch of stuff and the food there is great!!!

You can cut costs by doing a Thursday night wedding too. Maybe do buffet instead of sitdown.

Just try and keep it small.

Also, you could do a 3 days cruise for not much a plan a bigger honeymoon a year later for your 1 yr. anniversary!

Re: Very sad about wedding....

awwww sweetie dont feel upset :(:( I understand how you feel. FH and I have bills up to our eyeballs. It seems like every 2 seconds we have a new bill or we are past due on something else. I almost cry everyday thinking about it all plus the wedding and my best friend wedding in december (in london which is $$$$)

But you can have the wedding of your dreams even if you have to push it back a couple of months or even a year. Try making some adjustments on where u want to get married, what you want to wear, what you can and can not afford. I wanted to get married in April 2011 but there was no way we could have afforded it so we pushed it back to Sept on a monday, labor day cuz it was cheaper! Try looking for a friday night, or sunday afternoon.

Whatever you can afford will still be beautiful because it will be you and your FH and you two will make the world happy! Good Luck and if you need anything anything just let us know!!

Re: Very sad about wedding....

NEGOTIATE as much as you can. Even if they give you a low price; ask 'Is this the best you can offer' Don't be afriad; and don't feel ashamed/nervous. The worst they can say is No; or this is the best we can do.

ask if they can throw in any extra that you would otherwise have to pay for; and or ask if they can remove some thing out of the menu to lower the price (fewer entree choices; standard liquor instead of premium package).

ETA: Don't worry about 'offending' them. IT's ALL a business to them. Just think of it that way.
