Money being the most concern, I would rather spend the money or a better photograper than so-so photographer and a so-so video.
Are you getting video? Why or why not?
FH says, 'The only time people watch their wedding video is when their spouse dies.'
I don't know what to do...
And if any of my friends read this, don't yell at me. I am trying to get pluses and minuses about it. I figure I can get ideas to support my argument...
If i left any choices out feel free to express your opinion.
Thanks!

Re: Video or no video?
i love wedding videos!! i have watched my brother's and my fsil's a few times each and i know that it's something i will want to watch on every one of our anniversaries.
but if you really think you're not going to watch it more than once or twice, maybe it's not that important to you. many people just want the pictures and don't need a videographer. but if it's about the $$ and you REALLY want one, then def do it.

I do like the idea of having a video. What I hate about it is the blaring light all night and videographers that stand in the aisle at the ceremony and block the wedding for those attending.

Re: Video or no video?
We are just going to take our pics and add special effect ourselves and make a video out of that. There is no need for us to have a video and pics. My parents never had one, niether did his. We will have someone video tape the ceremony though. Whatever happened to buying nice camcorder and video taping it. I mean for those whoaregetting one thats great....but im not in dire need. I would prob watch it like 3 times and thats it. These people are insane withthe prices they are asking hahaha

If you really don't want to spend a ton, just get the raw footage and in the future you can possibly get it edited in the future if you have the extra money. Apparently the raw footage is some of the best and funniest footage you will see!

Re: Video or no video?
i wasnt getting one but then everyone who was married if they had a video or didnt, basically told me i would regret it forever
i would definitely watch it a few times - and our parents didnt have videos ( too old ha ha) and i would LOVE to see videos of my parents wedding, just imagine showing your kids and grandkids
pictures are great but videos show so much more. . . you dont have to go all out but i do think you should get one. . . i am glad we decided to!
PLUS i will be sending copies to Italy - since a lot of my family won't be able to make it! and they think American weddings are crazy!

Re: Video or no video?
My mom asked EVERY photographer about intrusiveness. We used Velvet for photo and video and I have yet to see proofs but have no complaints for the day. After all of the posed pictures were completed I really didn't even notice them. Even the light on the video was no bother.
I think a lot of people originally want to cut the video, and we were the same way. But I later decided that I'd rather have the video than photos. To each her own, I suppose. We got both, of course, but what I love about the video is that it captures everything and not just pretty pictures but sounds as well.
I was the MOH in my MOH's wedding in July and I have already watched her video 3 times and LOVE it - and it's not even my video. It's just so much fun.
There are definitely some inexpensive options. She used Video by Susan - not quite sure contact info on that - but i know she paid less than $1000 (I think $700).
Though, although I think the video is important, that's my opinion. I know some people feel very strongly about centerpieces and I was not interested in paying a lot of money for those and preferred to use it towards having a band. If you think the video is something you'd like to have, I'd say do your best to work it out and get it and cut elsewhere if you can. you can also get a lower quality video, just so you have something (not lower quality pictures but maybe less editing and titles and that stuff)
