videographer....beware of mark from deerpark
can you believe a friend of mine was at a wedding about a month or so ago, and she told me she wasat a wedding at windows on the lake and mark the
videographer never showed at the wedding , he
never sent a videographer to cover the job, no phone call until later and said some excuse , whatever it gets better..... i think the company is video maker but i can't be sure but his name is mark and he is from deerpark. the contract was paid in full , so you think he would mail the money back , never did , a number of phone calls and no
contact with this mark. so the bride is taking legal action. also the brides cousin who is in the wedding business was not at the wedding because he had to work at a wedding , he didnt recommend this guy mark but knew of him thru the wedding business
he called mark and had a half hour conversation with mark and the conclusion was he the video guy mailed the money back ,this was 3-weeks ago and the bride never received any refund from this creep of a videographer. beware and do not call
mark from deerpark , i know i won't

Re: videographer....beware of mark from deerpark
Whoa! Before jumping to any conclusions, this story should first be verified (as it is third hand information, from a friend who attended this wedding) before someone's reputation is ruined. We don't know the entire story. This is a terrbile thing to have happen to anyone and justice should be served, but are you really sure this is Videomaker? If the story is true and it was actually Mark from Videomaker then he has some explaining to do and restitutions to make.
I used Mark and he showed up on time and stayed through to the end. I didn't have to pay him in full and he never pressured me about money. We don't owe him a final payment until we have the video. He was nice enough to work with. Now that the wedding is over, we had to call him a few times to arrange a meeting, but that's been the only thing he's been slack on--returning phone calls.
He did not strike me as a malicious or deceitful person and as he knows his business relies on his reputation, I would think, if this was him, he would do the right thing and at least try to make amends (though there really little he can do to make up for the bride's loss. Giving the money back isn't even enough!).
All I am saying is that let's be fair and get all the facts before hanging him out to dry. If this does turn out to be him, then he deserves to be blacklisted. But if it's not and someone else is to blame...
I will be seeing him in a week or so (we have our run through of our raw footage) and I will mention this incident and see what he says.

Re: videographer....beware of mark from deerpark
That's OK. I did have my reservations about him, too, but the price was too good to pass up. So far, he's worked out for me, but I am curious/concerned as to what happened. I know one of my biggest fears was one of my vendors not showing up and if that had happened to me I would have been hysterical.

Re: videographer....beware of mark from deerpark
Thank you for this info I will be calling him immediately. I never had any bad vibes from Marc, and he has always returned my calls, I would hate to have to find another videographer, but I will if it is necessary.

Re: videographer....beware of mark from deerpark
I saw the note in the profile too, that was not very nice, in fact pretty strange, I must agree with you, Sheca. Why would you put that there, Kit4, and not just forum mail her if you wanted to ask?

Re: videographer....beware of mark from deerpark
I'm with ShellMarie on this one.I interviewed several videographers and settled on Mark with VideoMaker. I questioned him about not returning my phone calls initially and he told me he received this new phone system which is hooked up to cable modem, etc which in he discovered was not working properly.
I let him know I rec'd his name from a chat board (this one or ultimatewedding.com - I don't remember) and I heard complaints that he didn't call people back ASAP or at all. He seemed horrified and wanted to know if I remembered who and I said I had no idea since people only use screen names and if anything, they already booked. I have to say, he seemed genuinely upset - and I'm a tough judge of character. I didn't let him off the hook easily (regardless of how good his prices are) and he really had to 'woo' me in order to meet him.
I went to his house and we went over every detail for 2 hours. I felt his quality and ability was that of a videographer pricing 2x as much. He had the range to do whatever I wanted - and I'm an easier client since I'm not interested in all the hocus-pocus. He even said for the 10 minute clip - I can stop by and chose the moments I want - how I want them to phase into eachother, etc. He was really open to MY ideas (something most vendors don't consider even though it's your day, your wedding, your documentary).
I quizzed him about his equipment, back-up equipment and made it clear - and it's in the contract that HE will be the videographer at my wedding. I even asked him how he got along with several photographers - before I mentioned if I booked one and which one it was out of the group.
During my meeting with Mark, one of his clients stopped by to view her video and she raved about him and said she recommended him to her friends for their weddings.
He's giving me a GREAT deal for what would have cost me much more with the others that I had met with.
However, I will call him and let him know about this situation.
Take care everyone.

Re: videographer....beware of mark from deerpark
listen i don't enjoy telling it like it is but i thought this chat room was to help each other. this markfrom video maker did not showup at the wedding , no return phone calls and no refund of any money.
i now know for a fact that the bride has a court date with this mark from deerpark. so the brides who think this is weirrrrrd, no theres nothing weird
about this bride hiring a videographer , paying good money and having no video of her wedding day. so if you think this is weird because iam telling like it is , don't bother posting a reply . i will get the court date and you can go down there and see for yourself. i booked my video , bluesky video , bill
the owner is great and all i here is great things about him . if you need more info just reply.
